Methodology
Chapter 3 is divided into seven parts: (1) Setting, (2) Population, (Data Source, (4)
Ethical Considerations, (5) Research Design, (6) Strategy and Measurement, and (7)
Survey Instrument and Protocol.
Part One, Setting, discusses the detail of the location and environment from where the
participants of the study were selected.
Part Three, Data Source, discusses the data sources in which related studies and
literature were taken to support the study.
Part Four, Ethical Consideration, presents the values and principles that address
questions about the rights of the respondents and the benefits of the participants may
accrue.

Data source
The primary source was retrieved from the responses of the respondents in
researchers-made checklist.
The secondary sources of the study were taken from articles from the internet. All the
web pages and URLS were used and presented in this study. The researchers used
smartphones and connected to the internet to search terms related to the study. The
researchers utilized terms like solid waste management practices and profession
according to sex and age.
Ethical considerations
The researcher wrote to the principal, parents, and adviser, especially the respondent to
ask permission whether they can conduct the study. The Research made a survey
checklist and then checked by their research adviser to validate their survey checklist.
As they started conducting the study their research leader gave instructions or gave a
brief orientation regarding their research study to the respondents. Then the researcher
distributed the survey checklist questionnaires to be answered by the learner. After this,
the researcher gathered the survey checklist. The respondents were told that the
identity of Respondents is optional whether they wrote their name or leave a blank.

Research Design
The study utilized descriptive – correlational research method to determine the Status of
proper solid waste management practices among the middle-aged population of
Barangay Cansilayan,Buenavista,Guimaras. Descriptive-correlational method measures
two variables, understands and assesses the statistical relationship between the two
with no influence from any extraneous variable. Quantitative research is defined as a
systematic investigation of phenomenon by gathering quantifiable data and performing
statically, mathematical, or computational techniques.
Quantitative research is the process of collecting and analysing numerical data. It can
be used to find patterns and averages, make predictions, test causal relationships, and
generalize results to wider populations (Pritha Bhandari 2020)
The data taken from the respondent were analysed using descriptive – inferential
statistic.
Descriptive statistics is the term given to analysis of the data that helps describe, show,
or summarize data in meaningful way such as pattern that might emerge from the data
collected. Descriptive data analysis utilized statistical tools that include, frequency,
percentage, mean, and standard.
The researcher secured a permission letter from the captain of Barangay to conduct the
study. Upon the approval of the adviser, a researcher-made a survey checklist that was
validated and distributed to the respondents. The Researcher personally houses to
House distributed and retrieved the questionnaires were classified them according to
their Purok section. The researchers explained to the respondents how they are going
to answer the survey checklist. They were also given enough time to answer.
Likert scales are used in social and educational research. When using Likert scales, the
researcher consider issues such as categories of response (values in the scale), size of
the scale, direction of the scale, the ordinal nature of Likert – derived data, and
appropriate statistical analysis of such data.
The researchers used Likert scales in rating system as, used in a questionnaire that jd
designed to measure people’s opinions, perceptions and knowledge about the study.
Subjects choose from a range of possible responses to a specific question or statement
responses typically “always” “often” “sometimes ““seldom” and “never”. Often, the
categories lf response are coded numerically in which case the numerical values must
be defined for that specific study, such as 5= always, 4 =often, and so on.
The data obtained were counted, encoded, analysed, and interpreted using appropriate
statistical tools and data analysis procedures. After the complete retrieval of the
questionnaires, the researchers accumulated the middle-aged of Barangay
Cansilayan,Buenavista, Guimaras 2021-2022.
