How the elements of communication reflect an important role in maintaining peace and order in your
own community where you belong. How do they inflict change globally?

Maintaining peace and order requires three types of communication. First and foremost, we
must have a clear mental picture of the community in which we live. Second, we need to be able to
clearly articulate our needs and concerns. Since not everyone can clearly articulate their needs and
concerns, we also need the skills that help us understand them, “active listening” being one of the most
important.
Of course, a certain level of trust is also necessary in any community, as well as an ability to
“agree to disagree” when necessary. We could argue that these same principles apply worldwide, but
we are hampered by our inability to communicate directly across borders. “Important matters” are
communicated (presumably on our behalf) by agents of government, and that can come to resemble the
childhood game of “Telephone,” where messages can get strangely twisted as they are passed.
