Fiction Book Sales

Fiction is an imaginary story, not based on reality such as romance, novels and etc.
Launching Kiddle, “fiction” from Latin word “fictum” its mean “created”. Fiction book is about a story
that doesn't happen, created on the basis of imagination, not history or facts. While there are books
of fiction that are based on real events and history, writers usually create imaginary characters or
dialogues. The purpose is to entertain for examples are novels, saga, and etc. fiction book is one of
loved by people, there are many genre of fiction, such as young adult, classics, mystery, romance,
sci-fi and fantasy.

Based on that chart, we can describe that the bestsellers in 2006 were the romance genre
with an average sales of 80 thousand american dollars, while the fewest sales were fantasy and
classic only around 18 thousand US dollars each. In 2007, the bestseller was the romance genre with
sales reaching 115 thousand US dollars, the second was the mystery genre with sales of 81 thousand
US dollars. Classic almost equals young adults, while the least sales were the fantasy genre with 20
thousand US dollars, which had an increase of only 2 thousand dollars. in 2008 all sales decreased,
but the romance genre still held the most sales, sales of all books decreased by almost 40%. In 2009,
book sales experienced a small increase of about 5 to 10% but it has not improved as it was 2006.
bestsellers are still occupied by the romantic genre. In 2010 classic underwent a big promotion,
occupying the lowest position with sales of 5 thousand us dollars only, young adults increasing, and
mystery still occupying the second position while the first is still romance.

In conclusion, the most sales on average from 2006 to 2010 were achieved by the romance
genre, while the second was achieved by mystery. for 4 years, the worst decline in average sales was
in 2008, and the worst sales were in 2007, and for 4 years the worst sales were in the fantasy genre.
