How Assigned Readings and Videos Have Influenced Me?

When I first met and heard it, I love the voice of Andrew Salomon. Since listening to

him, I've been waiting for one of his public speeches. One thing that intrigued me was his

conversation about how people learn to understand things, the struggles, the defeats, and

shortcomings in their lives. As Solomon (2014) put it, people should benefit from even the most

painful experiences and make use of their experience in order to become more self-informed."

He said that you should take these traumas, make them part of your life, and turn the worst of

your life into a triumphant story, show a better self in reactions to things that hurt (Solomon,

2014).

Although they still feel confused about their errors and shortcomings in life, the voice of

Salomon should be protected in these ways. I would also say that my memories, challenges, and

failures were taken from me and I just stopped trying and let things slide by me. The harsh patch

of their life made me aware that it does not stop in the lives of people. Go through what certain

people would say is "We cannot accept senseless torment but if we believe it is purposeful, we

can resist great suffering." I don't know how to make the same mistakes and make my decisions

more aware" (Solomon, 2014). I have faced many challenges in my life, and as I write this paper

I still face a lot of hurdles...Yet I've understood the meaning of "moving on and only taking one

day at a time... and then being ready to stand up on our own. I can guarantee that he inspired me,

even more, to continue to expect me to become a better person in the future after hearing
Solomon's voice. My new professional goals will inspire me as part of the organization to which

I now belong to and my corporate duties are intended to better understand the capabilities and

competencies of my employees and my academic aspirations.

Another fascinating and inspirational speech that I heard in this class was the one by

Robert Waldinger, who said the defective definition of harmony and prosperity makes people

very blind at some point in our life. People believe that individuals should live independently

without the help of others in a fast-paced environment. People associate happiness with things

that are material, income, or wealth, and others feel it's about popularity. Waldinger (2015) states

that the happiest are the ones with a stable social network, a trustworthy circle of friends, and a

loving family. Good and strong links are beneficial for our wellbeing and health, and this is as

old an experience as the hills are (Waldinger, 2015).

I believe like once someone or people encouraged them to do something, they want to

gain more attention. Personally, I would admit that I would not have been where I am today had I

not truly cared about parents and siblings. Also with the help from my family and close friends, I

was able to conquer my own doubts, raise my strength, and start a job in one of the toughest and

most demanding areas. A good and healthy life has been established (Waldinger, 2015). This

speech is one of the most motivational speeches in this module and I should say that if I were

not, I would not be the person I am today.
