BANDES SIKA ® PVC

Water arresting strips for waterproofing between concrete elements.

Description
SIKA PVC water arresting strips are based on a high-grade heat-sealing synthetic material.
Colour: yellow.

General characteristics
Withstands pressures up to 40 m water head.
Safe utilisation owing to the multiple anchoring points on the strip sides ensuring the water
flow retention without any risk of concrete tearing.
The joint waterproofing is additionally ensured by a COMBIFLEX system or an elastomer
sealant on a backing roll.
Stability of initial elongation characteristics in time.
Easy to seal (heat-sealing PVC).

The strip is arranged in the formwork so that it be embedded over half its width while casting

M TYPE: strips embedded for construction joints exposed to pressures < 40-m water head.
The upper portion of the bellows faces the pressure. To prevent concrete from entering the
bellows and preserve the strip elasticity, insert a SIKA backing roll or expanded polystyrene
type packing in the bellows.

SEALING
The ends are heated for sealing. As soon as the material starts to fuse (white smoke) the
ends are applied against each other and held in position until cooling.
The seal can be reinforced by adding some material heated using a heating-blade blowpipe
like a FORPLAST – LEISTER hot blowout gun fitted with a Teflon-lined nozzle 62 A).

JUNCTION PIECES
The waterproofing of intersecting joints, or joints that are perpendicular to another joint
requires the use of suitably shaped prefab pieces.
Custom-made special pieces (arm free length: 30 cm).
