Guidelines for Slow Steaming
1. Risk management for slow steamin
‘The below mentioned risks might increase as a resul of slow steaming. However, these risks can
bbe avoided by proper inspections, operation, and maintenance at appropriate intervals.

1.1. Sludge and carbon deposits in the scavenging space
(Piston rings and cyinder liner condition)
> Conduct a visual inspection at proper intervals (:e., every manth or less).
> Remove accumulated sludge, and confirm that dain nas are not chocking,
> I unbumed fue! can be observed on any unit, replace the fue injection valves for tha unt
1.2 Garbon deposit from exhaust gas manifold
et et el
> Conduct a visual inspection (inside must be dry) at proper intervals (e.g, every month or less).
> Hany wet oils observed, determine the root cause and immediately take countermeasures,
> Remove any accumulated carbon deposits on the T/C inlet grid
1.3. Carbon deposits on the turbocharger blade
> Conduct blow-off operation at proper intervals
> Carryout solids clearing andior water cleaning at adequate revolutions.
> Continue to monitor the running data ofthe TIC, and determine the appropriate overhaul interval.
1.4 _Carbon deposits on the exhaust gas economizer
‘every month or ls)
> Determine the appropriate water-washing interval om the visual inspection andior daft loss.
2.1 Avoid the “unfavorable run range”
> Aux blower oniot repeating area
> Scavenging space lap valve openiclose repeated and knocking sound area
> Exhaust gas temperature highviow limit
