Inquiry Question: How can I achieve success in the project that I am trying for the first time,
while being successful in my other classes as well?

1) Capstone Project Summary:

In the box below, please type out 200 – 300 words explanation of what you are planning to do with
your Capstone Project. It should be as specific as possible, detailing what you hope to accomplish.

I am planning to make amigurumi (crochet toy).

I am busy with my studies, so I will try to carry out this project in my spare time, such as weekends /
holidays / days without homework. The exact number of amigurumi to make has not been set. Because I
want to see the evolution of my sewing and crocheting skills while doing this project, I want to make
amigurumi as much as possible. First, I am going to make bear amigurumi. And since I do not know much
about crocheting, I will study the essential crochet stitches and skills before I start to make an amigurumi.
For the type of animal, I chose to make a bear first because I like bears the most among animals and
thought I would enjoy making bear amigurumi the most. For material, I have some materials at home that
are needed to make amigurumi. However, some of the necessary materials are not at home. I have to go
buy them, and I am planning to visit Michaels and Walmart in the near future (for materials). From this
project, I hope to aclcomplish many different kinds of things. I want to learn more about psh toys and
amigurumi itself. Not only for the project, but I also want to be able to make them in daily life. Also, I want
to be a great listener by following my mom’s guide carefully.

3) Rationale/context: Detail your reasons for choosing this inquiry question.

Explain WHY you are choosing to investigate this topic as a major area of focus. How does this area of inquiry
connect to your passion(s), purpose? Why is it of personal interest to you?

I chose this topic as a major area of focus because I love amigurumi and cute animals, and I thought I
wanted to make my own toys if I had a chance. These are my personal interests because I have had a lot of
animal toys at home since I was a child, and I liked to play with them. Therefore, I think my background
makes me passionate and interested in toys.

4 ) Background: What background knowledge / connections / prior learning do you have that can help
you to be successful with your project?

I have experience making a sock doll in grade 7. From this, I learned the basic process of making toys and
how to sew. Although I can only do basic sewing now, I think it is very important to know the process of
making toys. In terms of skill, once again, I am a beginner who does not know well about crocheting and can
only do basic sewing. However, since my mother is good at sewing and crocheting, I asked her for help, and
she said yes. Therefore, she can guide me through the project and help me to be successful with my project.

5) Career connections: What is your intended career area at this point in time? What connections does
this inquiry question have to your life, academic and/ or career goals? What are you hoping to gain from
completing this project (other than graduating or passing CLC 12)?

My intended career area is Computer Programming. My inquiry question is, “How can I achieve success in
the project that I am trying for the first time?”. Not just a present, but also in the future, I will try and
challenge myself a lot. And this project, which challenges something I have never done before, will give me
directions to succeed in my new challenge. From this project, I hope to gain many different things other
than graduating and passing CLC 12. First, I want to be proficient at sewing and crocheting and learn more
about amigurumi itself. Not only for the project, but I also want to be able to make amigurumi in daily life
(whenever I want). Also, I want to be a great listener by following my mom’s guide carefully. I want to
strengthen my research skills by finding the information I need carefully. Furthermore, I want to be good at
time management because it is one of the most important factors in the work’s success.

I will use Canva (Electronic portfolio) for my presentation in class.

Also, I will bring the amigurumi I made and show them. I will explain the order in which toy was made for
the first time and the last time, to show the development of my skills.
To make it easier to understand, I will divide the table of contents (such as an explanation of amigurumi, the
process of making amigurumi, things I accomplished from this project, etc) in my electronic portfolio.
