CHAPTER 1
BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

INTRODUCTION

Modular Learning is a form of learning delivery system in

which a teacher provides education to pupils who are physically
separated. MDLs are the most prevalent form of DL (Distance
Learning) in the United States. MDL (Modular Distance Learning) is
currently used in all public schools after a DepEd study found that 8.8
million parents endorsed it. Learning through printed modules is the
most preferred method of remote learning among parents with
children enrolled this academic year. Learners in rural locations with
limited internet connection and no access to online learning are also
considered.

The DepEd presented three learning modes for the school

year 2020-2021, ranging from the conventional to the new normal in
the teaching and learning process: blended, distance, and
homeschooling. Blended learning, according to Llego (2020), is a blend
of face-to-face education with any or all of online distance learning,
modular distance learning (MDL), and TV/radio-based instruction. The
DepEd opted to bring education to the comfort of their homes as they
continually created multiple learning modalities to guarantee that
education is accessible to all.

The study looked on the experiences of multigrade teachers.

with the Department of Education order, it is highly recommended that
education policymakers review and assess budget allotments for
modular system teaching. Furthermore, improvement of quality-
controlled modules and worksheets, prompt arrival distribution of
learning materials, and provision of sufficient supply of references for
multigrade teachers are all highly recommended to better facilitate
modular system teaching and learning assessments in times of
pandemic.The purpose of this study was to analyze the effectiveness

of modular learning program teaching on the senior high school

student of Tropical Innovative School of Excellence, Inc. in order to
assess students' learning performance and achievement and establish
whether modular teaching is more successful.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

This research will give an examination of the Modular

Learning Program's efficacy on the students at Tropical Innovative
School of Excellence, Inc. A.Y. 2021-2022.
This study seeks to uncover the pros and downsides of modular
learning, as well as the benefits to students. Particularly noteworthy is
the following statement:

1. What advantages has the modular system provided to the

student?

2. What function does the modular system play in student

education?

3. The impact of modular learning on the following;

a. Mental Well-Being
b. Thinking Critically

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

This study's findings will be valuable to all school

administrators, including T.I.S.E., Inc. students. This research will
explain to all readers why and how modular learning is beneficial to
students. The result of this study will benefit the following:

● Students. Students will learn numerous moral lessons from

this subject as they apply it to their life. They will explore how modular
learning may effect them, their teachers, and their academic success.
Students will also understand what their lecturers are conveying to
them. This study has the potential to have a significant influence on
students at T.I.S.E., Inc.

● Teachers. Teachers will benefit greatly from this research

since they will be able to provide their thoughts, perspectives, and
suggestions to their pupils. Because they are the source of information
on how kids misbehave, teachers will be the primary instrument in this
study. Teachers at Tropical Innovative School of Excellence, Inc. may
broaden their perspectives on how children are experiencing modular
learning today, and they can also relax knowing that there is a study
that can assist them.

● Parents. This will be extremely beneficial to the parent of a

kid who is studying, as they will be able to properly assist them and
will not have to work as hard because not all pupils can follow the
lesson or the connection may be too sluggish to follow the lesson
swiftly. It will also act as a guide for parents to avoid overthinking
their children's learning.

● Department Of education.This research will help the education

department give moral and psychological support to students, create
awareness about pupils who experience obstacles in this new learning
environment, and aid them in motivating themselves.

This study can serve as a model for future studies on the

same issue. This study will give future researchers with information
and specifics on how modular learning works for students.
