LESSON PLAN IN GRADE 7 ENGLISH

March 29, 2021

I. OBJECTIVES
 At the end of the lesson, 80% of the number of students should be able to
construct sentences using coordinating conjunction

II. SUBJECT MATTER


Coordinating conjunction

Materials: Projector, Laptop

III. PROCEDURES
A. Prayer

B. Review
 The teacher will ask for recapitulation about the lesson yesterday.
C. Motivation
“Do what I say but don’t follow what I do”
 Can you tell me again what my instruction was?
 What was my first instruction? The second one?
 How did I state and combine the two instructions?

D. Activity
“Careful Whisper”
 The teacher will group the students with equal number of
members.
 The teacher will ask the students to form a line. The first
person in the line of each group will be shown a sentence. This
sentence will be passed to the next person until it reaches the
last person through a “careful whisper”.
 The last person will then write the sentence on the board.
 The group who will give the most correct sentences will be the
winner.
 The teacher must prepare at least five sentences.

E. Analysis
The teacher will ask the following:

1. What have you observed in the sentences?


2. What do you call the word that connects two independent clauses
or sentences?
F. Abstraction
Coordinating conjunctions
 Connect words, phrases and clauses. It also joins parts of a
sentence (ex. words or independent clauses) that are
grammatically equal or similar.

For – explains reason or purpose

And – adds one thing to another

Nor – used to present an alternative negative idea to an already


stated negative idea

But – shows contrast

Or – presents an alternative or choice


Yet – introduce a contrasting idea

So – indicates effect, result or consequences

Examples:

 I will be late to the party, for I am working until seven.


 Tom likes to read and write.
 Sally does not like the mountains, nor does she like the ocean.
 I wanted to ride my bike, but the tire was flat.
 Fred wants peas or carrots for supper.
 I love chocolate, yet I do not eat chocolate ice cream.
 She was late to work, so her boss made her stay after five.

G. Application
“Connect Me”

Direction: Combine the given sentences by providing the appropriate


coordinating conjunction to form connecting sentences.

1. Alex didn’t understand the homework.


He asked the teacher for help.
2. The students didn’t prepare for the test.
They didn’t realize how important the test was.
3. Derek invested a lot of money in the business.
The business went bankrupt.
4. Wear your seatbelt.
You might get injured.
5. We needed some food for the week.
We went to the supermarket.
