1 Purpose of this document

The following document describes the site and technical requirements to be provided when
installing the INVENIO R spectrometer. To ensure optimum spectrometer performance and
operating reliability it is recommended to observe the following site requirements.

2 Installation information
Installation and initial operation of the spectrometer will be performed by qualified service
personnel of Bruker Optik GmbH. The operating company has to prepare the spectrometer
installation site in time, and provide the utilities required.
If the delivery of a data system and/or the installation of the operating system and spectroscopy
software are not part of the delivery content, the operating company also needs to provide a
data system that complies with the technical requirements, and incorporates the user rights
required.

3 Intended use of spectrometer

The spectrometer and its components should only be used according to the operating
instructions described in the user manual, or advised by a Bruker service engineer.
Technical changes on the spectrometer, components or on the spectrometer system must not
be performed! In case of accessories or components produced by other manufacturers and
used in connection with the spectrometer, Bruker does not assume any liability for safe
operation and proper functioning.

4 Site requirements

4.1 Space

Floor space of the spectrometer: 80 x 80 cm

Ground: - stable, horizontal

- must bear the weight of at least 100 kg (basic
configuration, see chapter 4.6, with possible
options and accessories)

Clearance at spectrometer rear side: at least 15 cm

Distance between data system and not more than 100 m

spectrometer (direct connection):

Connection cable to main power supply: must be accessible at any time

4.2 Environmental conditions

Installation location: closed room (≤ 2000 m above sea level)

Operating temperature : 18°C to 35°C

Temperature variations in case of long- - not more than 1°C per hour
term measurements:
- not more than 2°C per day

Humidity (non-condensing): ≤ 80% relative humidity

Electrical interferences: - Do not install the spectrometer near any

sources of potential inductive electrical
interference (e.g. pumps, switching motors,
microwave ovens etc.).
- Ensure that these types of devices are not
connected to the same electrical circuit as the
spectrometer.

Vibrations: - Do not install the spectrometer near vibration

sources (ventilation hoods, air conditioners
etc.).
- Do not install the spectrometer in rooms with
intense floor vibrations.

When the spectrometer was stored outside the operating temperature range specified, the spectrometer must
have been acclimatized before you can switch it on.

4.3 Power supply

Input voltage range: 100 to 240 V AC, 50 to 60 Hz

Power consumption (basic configuration): - typical: 70 W

- maximum: 120 W

Overvoltage category: II according to EN 61010-1 or IEC 60664-1

Pollution degree: 2 according to EN 61010-1 or IEC 60664-1

Protection class: I according to IEC 61140

Connection: Socket outlet with earthing contact according to

VDE 0620-1 or IEC

Fuse: 16 A (installation according to VDE 0100 or IEC

60364)

Power cable: 3 x 1,5 mm with safety plug

For safety purposes make sure that interfaces of electric accessories connected to the
spectrometer comply with SELV (safety extra low voltage) circuit requirements. This is met if the
accessory design is based on the requirements outlined in EN 61010 or EN 60950.

4.4 Dry air

The spectrometer does not require any dry-air supply. The optics and sample compartment of
INVENIO R can be purged. If optical components (e.g. beamsplitters) should frequently be
changed, it is recommended to purge the spectrometer by dry air or nitrogen gas. Provide the
following purge gas conditions:

 Dry, oil-free and dust-free air (dew point below -40°C) or nitrogen gas
Recommendation: use of DIN purity class 1-1-1 (dryness – residual oil – particles)

 Maximum pressure of 0.5 bar (7.25 psi)

 Controllable gas flow, recommended gas flow rate: 200l/h, it must not exceed 500l/h
Air or gas-supply connection: hose with an outer diameter of 6mm. Ensure that the hose is rated
for the indicated operating pressure.

4.5 Cooling water

The spectrometer does not require any cooling water. For the usage of an external, water-
cooled source, a cooling device with closed water circulation is included in the delivery scope.
Therefore, a cooling-water connecting is not required at the installation site.

4.6 Weight/Dimension
Weight: approx. 65 kg (basic configuration) Note: The exact weight depends on the
configuration.
Dimension without touch panel: 68 x 76 x 32 cm (width x depth x height)
Dimension with touch panel: 68 x 76 x 50 cm (width x depth x height)
Height with opened sample compartment lid: 62 cm
