York St John University London - Assessment Brief 2022-23

Additional Information

For part 1 of your portfolio, you are required to critically compare three countries
within a research report to investigate, evaluate and translate healthcare research for
decision making and problem solving. Moreover, your report should analyse and
disseminate an independent piece of healthcare leadership research. This will
consider qualitative and quantitative methods, leadership strategies and relevant
healthcare theoretical frameworks.

For part 2 of your portfolio, you must consider that a leader needs to make informed
decisions, they need to be adept at synthesising and applying latest health research. Upon
completion of your report, you are expected to formulate a written strategy (proposal)
outlining how to overcome specific challenges within current and future healthcare global
markets.

Your portfolio must contain the following:

 Part 1: Written research report (1,500 words)

 Part 2: Written strategy (proposal (1,000 words)
 Both Part 1 and Part 2 will equate to (2,500 words in total)

Each component should be accurately cited and referenced according to York St John
Harvard Referencing throughout. If you require support with your study skills, please visit
https://www.yorksj.ac.uk/students/study-skills/

The portfolio is required to contain essential information including the use of theoretical
models, frameworks, graphs, tables, statistical information, and figures as appropriate to
support your methods.

You will be assessed on your ability to conduct effective healthcare research, employ
appropriate techniques to construct a plan for overcoming related challenges and
evidence examples to corroborate the impact of healthcare leadership strategies.

The portfolio should encompass the following elements:

 Critical, evidence-based approach to universal standards and global health
initiatives
 Deliver a clear outline and structure within the report to address key areas related
to audience, standards, and quality of various healthcare programmes
 Ethical principles, consequences and implications
 Conflicts between standardisation versus localisation, particularly with investigating
healthcare systems, infrastructure and staff capacity
 Data collection to evidence application within your written strategy component
(proposal), extrapolated from retrospective studies, or the literature sourced
through secondary research methods. This will be crucial for devising and
executing a strategic plan to resolve problems and make informed decisions.
