Standards
Standard 1: Learner Development
The teacher understands how learners grow and
develop, recognizing that
patterns of learning and development vary
individually within and across the
cognitive, linguistic, social, emotional, and
physical areas, and designs and
implements developmentally appropriate and
challenging learning experiences.
Standard 2: Learning Differences
The teacher uses understanding of individual
differences and
diverse cultures and communities to ensure
inclusive learning
environments that enable each learner to meet
high standards.
Standard 3: Learning Environments
The teacher works with others to create
environments that support
individual and collaborative learning, and that
encourage positive
social interaction, active engagement in learning,
and self-motivation.
Standard 4: Content Knowledge
The teacher understands the central concepts,
tools of inquiry, and structures of the
discipline(s) he or she teaches and creates
learning experiences that make these aspects of
the discipline accessible and meaningful for
learners to assure mastery of the content.
Standard 5: Application of Content
The teacher understands how to connect concepts
and use differing
perspectives to engage learners in critical
thinking, creativity, and
collaborative problem solving related to authentic
local and global issues.
Evidence
Understanding how students learn, grow, and
develop was one of the driving factors of each
lesson that I taught. I picked developmentally
appropriate learning activities in both my small
group and whole group lessons. You can view

Throughout my time in Student Teaching, I was
able to understand individual differences,
cultures, and communities among students in
order to create an inclusive learning environment.

Creating environments that support individual
and collaborative learning was woven throughout
each of my lessons. I ensured that the students
were able to learn together while being
encouraged with positive reinforcements.

To assure mastery of content, I strived to educate
myself with the central concepts, tools of inquiry,
and structures of the discipline in order to create
positive and engaging learning experiences for
my students within each of my lessons. You can

Throughout my Student Teaching experience, I
worked with both of my cooperating teachers to
understand how to engage learners in critical
thinking, creativity, and collaborative situations
to connect real world problem solving scenarios.

Standard 6: Assessment
The teacher understands and uses multiple
methods of assessment
to engage learners in their own growth, to
monitor learner progress,
and to guide the teacher’s and learner’s decision
making.
Standard 7: Planning for Instruction
The teacher plans instruction that supports every
student in meeting rigorous learning
goals by drawing upon knowledge of content
areas, curriculum, cross-disciplinary skills,
and pedagogy, as well as knowledge of learners
and the community context.
Standard 8: Instructional Strategies
The teacher understands and uses a variety of
instructional strategies to
encourage learners to develop deep
understanding of content areas and
their connections, and to build skills to apply
knowledge in meaningful ways.
Standard 9: Professional Learning and Ethical
Practice
The teacher engages in ongoing professional
learning and uses evidence
to continually evaluate his/her practice,
particularly the effects of his/her
choices and actions on others (learners, families,
other professionals, and
the community), and adapts practice to meet the
needs of each learner.
Standard 10: Leadership and Collaboration
The teacher seeks appropriate leadership roles

During my experience, I was able to carry out
different methods of assessment in order to
encourage student growth, monitor progress, and
guide both mine and my students’ decision
making process. I was able to take down data
during my lessons in order to monitor student

Planning for instruction allowed me as the
teacher to meet the learning goals of my students.
It also allowed me to differentiate instruction
based on learning needs and goals of not only the
student but the knowledge they needed, as well. I
was able to differentiate instruction during small

Instructional strategies are imperative in the
classroom setting, and that is why I used as many
as I could. From auditorial, kinesthetic, visual,
and collaborative strategies, my students were
able to build and apply knowledge in meaningful

During Student Teaching, I was able to engage in
ongoing professional learning experiences.
Throughout both placements, I talked one on one with
my cooperating teachers in order to better myself as a
novice teacher. With their feedback, I was able to
adjust my teaching style accordingly. I also was able
to engage in professional communications with a
parent in order to better their child’s performance at
school. Through my reflections, I was also able to
evaluate my practice in order to meet the needs of

Throughout my Student Teaching experience, in
both placements, I was a part of PLC meetings,
parent-teacher conferences, and collabs with both
the reading and math specialists. I also worked
one on one with my cooperating teachers to plan
and community members to ensure learner lessons for the upcoming week(s). You can view
