EDSA REVOLUTION

1. What is the reason behind EDSA Revolution?

During that time people would like to end on what they so called the President – “Dictatorship”. To regain
the democracy and to bring back the freedom of the people.

2. What did the EDSA Revolution show?

The EDSA revolution was a clear demonstration of how the Filipino people stood fearlessly and non-
violently against despotism and the breakdown of democratic institutions to reclaim their political freedoms,
sense of country and national dignity.

3. What is your understanding about EDSA Revolution?

For me, the 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution gathered millions of Filipinos from all walks of life to
march along Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA), the main artery of Metro Manila, to end the
administration of President Ferdinand E. Marcos and begin a new era marked by true freedom and
democracy. This spirit of movement was not confined to Manila; it manifested through non-violent
demonstrations staged in different cities nationwide—it was a revolution marked by its peaceful means, led
by a nation united to reclaim liberty.

However, there are numerous misconceptions on different aspects to consider. Although, it was peaceful but
there are other party whose suffered the most and feel the agony of humanity experienced the most.

I used to believe what is written in the book for the long time, but going back and analyzing different
aspects, I found out that there’s a lot to seek what really happened.

4. What lesson did the Filipino learn from the EDSA people power revolution.

The events of February 25, 1986, altered the course of our nation’s history; it showcased to the world
the remarkable resolve of the Filipino people. It heralded an era of peace. Over the years, we have
continued to remember this momentous occasion by honoring the sacrifices of every Filipino in
fighting what they are believe in.
5. What statement about Ferdinand Marcos is more important when assessing his performance as the
president of the Philippines?

He was a very good Strongman and leader and I hope and pray the same leadership style gets back in
power. NO leader is perfect and yes, he made some mistakes but over all a very very good leader.
There was discipline in his administration and real progress that made this nation learn on what it can
do and made its capability be known. Such progress that is unmatched to any of the late Philippine
President that keep the people moral high and made their life east and comfortable. He is the only
Philippine President that put the country into a limelight. I wish I was born that time. The Philippines
is one the world's most influential country in whole world yet today the most corrupt country. He's
the only President who transforms the Philippines from rags to riches. Even if he was called a
Dictator, he gave the Philippines at the center of the world. He developed many infrastructures and
promoted the Philippines in the field of the performing arts. As far more compared to many
presidents, he has given a legacy that many Filipino people could remember and will always stay in
the hearts of the people who loved him.M+46

During his government, the Philippines became one of the leading exporter of sugar, rice and very
progressive country in Asia. It was during his Presidency that the Philippines was peaceful, well
respected and you can see all over the Philippines from Apari to Jolo the infrastructure was being
built; roads, bridges, hospital, school buildings etc. , until now all the beautiful scenery and buildings
were being built during Marcos regime. He's the best President the Philippines ever had!
