AUTOGAP

ADJUSTMENT
for FLSmidth® Pfister® DRW Rotor weighfeeder

Frequently
Asked
Questions
The Principle of AutoGAP

AutoGAP is a technology to adjust the optimal GAP of your

FLSmidth® Pfister® DRW Rotor weighfeeder fully automated during
operation. This will be reached by evaluating the active motor
current of the DRW drive per defined time unit (di/dt). The cyclic
verification will open or close the GAP between upper sealing plate
and rotorwheel. The online verification is able to realize a quick
opening within 50 ms. The readjustment afterwards is initiated
automatically. A check of the optimal GAP adjustment is
implemented cyclically.

Installation

This innovation is available with new Pfister® DRW Rotor

weighfeeders as well as a retrofit kit for all types of Pfister® DRW
installations. The existing adjustment screws will be replaced by a
new mechanical construction which adjust the GAP by three control
drives.
What is necessary?

We recommend to use new sealing plates with rotor when starting

the AutoGAP technology for best initial adjustment or reworked
parts, but this is not a precondition.

Recalibration of the Pfister® DRW with check weights after

commissioning.

Installation costs / time

Approx. one day per feeder with full access to the Pfister® DRW
preferably during a major shut-down.

Which controller does work with AutoGAP?

AutoGAP is available for the CSC and F-Series controller

generation.

Experience

 Beginning from the first installation very positive results in GAP

adjusting
 Blockages caused by foreign particles in the coal reduced by
nearly 100%
 Insignificant wear after 6 month of successful operation and
feeding of 50.000 t coal / petcoke
Benefits and Advantages

 Cyclic, optimal and online GAP adjustment during

normal operation
 Quick-open-function protects from jamming and wear
caused by foreign particles and readjusts the optimal GAP
 Increased equipment availability
 Reduced maintenance and spare part costs

Optional features

 Online GAP value information

 Wear diagnostic
 Maintenance request indication
 Tip-Function for manual GAP adjustment

Increased Lifetime

Wear depends on:

1. Material abrasiveness
2. Pneumatic design
3. Maintenance (GAP adjustment)

Material abrasiveness cannot be influenced. The pneumatic design

usually depends mostly on the location of the feeder and is
therefore a given fact in most of the cases. But the GAP adjustment
will directly have impact on the steady material flow, due to
minimized leakage air and associated wear and tear.
The AutoGAP technology secures always the optimum GAP
adjustment which results in reliable operation, least possible wear
and increased lifetime.
