Domain 2: Policy Development and Program Planning Skills

This short video explains the Policy Development Process from proposal to acceptance.
By watching this video, I learned about the hops people have to jump through to put a
policy in place. The wrap community has several ripe working groups and each
one has its own mailing lists. Policy discussions take place on these lists
depending on the subject matter. Sometimes a discussion continues at a right
meeting but decisions on a policy only happen on the mailing list. If you have an
idea that would change the way the ripe ncc allocates ipv6 address space but
you want to get feedback from the right community before you make a proposal
you can start discussing the idea on one of the ripe working group mailing lists. A
policy proposal can be changed or withdrawn in the review phase. An impact
analysis is published so everyone can see what will change if the proposal is
accepted. If the working group chairs declare that consensus has been reached
your proposal moves into the concluding phase.

This video discusses the process of program planning, and the stages that are involved.
I learned that the process of program planning is a cycle because each stage impacts
another. Planning and evaluation is often referred to in terms of a cycle for two
main reasons first each part of the cycle will help feed into the next cycle and
inform the next stage of your work. Tracking your fidelity refers to tracking how
well you do in implementing your program according to the plan that you set
forward. How you can conduct a community needs assessment to determine the
overall needs of your community and help you start to set the goals for your
program. Ask yourself what kinds of programs will address the issue to best meet
your goals and if there's another program that already exists which might help
you to have a starting point from which you can adapt. See the teen traffic safety
program database along with your resources material to get you started by
looking at other programs that might tackle similar issues.
