Material Design and Current Trend

1. In your own opinion what is/are the importance of materials design in teaching?

The importance of material design, in my opinion, is that it provides opportunities

for teachers to explore and learn new information, which supports the creation of
activities. With the evolution of knowledge bases in every field, teachers do their best to
gain a better understanding of the most recent trends in language teaching. Language
learning improves students' performance in real-world situations, which teachers provide
by designing relevant and effective materials. The designed material helps in reducing
students' learning barriers by presenting more relatable situations and activities tailored
specifically to them. Material design helps educators to create and adapt activities that
support, develop, and enhance the students' understanding while also allowing them to be
more creative and skilled in their field. Furthermore, designing material for teaching is
important because it considers the learner's role in the process of material adaptation
because she or he is the ultimate beneficiary of the language experience. Lastly, teachers
ensure that the likes and dislikes of students, as well as their background, are considered
when designing materials. Teachers are encouraged to conduct needs analyses to ensure
that the design material is beneficial, that the needs of learners are fully integrated, and
that the student's learning goal is attainable.

2. How you are going to apply the material design in teaching?

As a future teacher and materials designer, I will first consider the complementary
problem of the theory of language learning underlying the materials when applying
material design, because this will evaluate how the syllabus is designed in the form of
exercises, tasks, activities, and learning experiences. Maintain student involvement by
following their interests and ensuring that the material design is aligned with the needs of
the various learners. Making sure that the materials used facilitate learner engagement
and meaningful interaction in learning and teaching. Moreover, when applying the design
material, I will look for ways to encourage independent student learning and make
learning fun, so that the material is not wasted but instead helps the learners discover
more. Additionally, before applying the design material, I will ensure that it is relevant
and focuses on a skill-based course in listening, speaking, reading, or writing or an
integrated skills basic series so that the learners will appreciate and apply the knowledge
they gain from the class. For better results, such materials must be carefully designed,
identified, structured, developed, and used in a course. So, the ways in which I apply
design materials are to organize, plan, and select instructional materials that take into
account both the scope and depth of content, so that student learning is optimized and
developed.
