INFECTIOUS DISEASES ARE TRANSMITTED FROM PERSON-TO-PERSON THROUGH THE
TRANSFER OF A PATHOGEN SUCH AS BACTERIA, VIRUSES, FUNGI OR PARASITES. A NON-
INFECTIOUS DISEASE CANNOT BE TRANSMITTED THROUGH A PATHOGEN AND IS CAUSED
BY A VARIETY OF OTHER CIRCUMSTANTIAL FACTORS.

Infectious Disease Non-Infectious Disease

 Caused by infection of pathogens directly  Caused by genetic factor or lifestyle
through mediums and vectors

 Example: Tuberculosis,  Example:

flu,ringworm,tinea,leptospirosis, Cancer,hypertension,diabetes
dengue fever, malaria fever and Zika ,asthma and cardiovascular
fever
 A disease that can be transmitted  A disease that cannot be
from one individual to another transmitted from one individual to
another
Infectious Disease
1.Infection of diseases through vectors
• Some pathogens are transmitted from one host
to another new host through animal
• Animals that transmit these pathogens are
called vectors
• Dengue and Typhoid are example diseases
caused by vectors
Disease Vectors Pathogen
Dengue Aedes Mosquito Virus
Typhoid Cockroach Salmonella typhi bacteria

Salmonella typhi
bacteria
Aedes Mosquito
2.Infection of diseases through contact
• Example of disease that can be transmitted
through contact is ringworm
• Ringworm is caused by fungi

• Accidentally touching the infected person

will cause infections to occur

Ringworm
Non – Infectious disease
1.Cancer
• Cancer is a disease caused when cells divide
uncontrollably and spread into surrounding
tissues.Cancer is caused by changes to DNA.
2. Diabetes
• Two main causes of diabetes are overweight,
obesity and an inactive lifestyle
3.Asthma
• Asthma causes your airways to get inflamed
and narrow, and it makes it hard to breathe.
 Symptoms of Dengue
1) Vomiting
2) Rash
3) Aches and pain
4) High fever
 Symptoms of Typhoid
1) Stomach pain
2) Headache
3) Cough
4) Diarrhea
 Symptoms of Ringworm
1) Itchy skin
2) Hair loss
3) Ring shaped rash
4) Cracked skin

 Symptoms of Cancer
1) Weight lose without trying
2) Fatigue
3) Pain
4) Sores that don’t heal
 Symptoms of Diabetes
1) Blurry vision
2) Feel very tired
3) Urinate a lot
4) Feel very thirsty

 Symptoms of Asthma
1) Breathing faster
2) A fast heartbeat
3) Fainting
4) Dizziness
Dengue
 Take acetaminophen or paracetamol to control fever and relieve pain.
Do not take aspirin or ibuprofen.
 Get plenty of rest and drink fluids to prevent dehydration.
 Rest in a screened or air-conditioned room or under a bed net while
you have a fever.
Typhoid
 Wash your hands. Frequent hand-washing in hot, soapy water is
the best way to control infection. ...
 Avoid drinking untreated water. Contaminated drinking water is
a particular problem in areas where typhoid fever is endemic.
 Avoid raw fruits and vegetables.
 Choose hot foods.
Ringworm
 Wash bedding daily. ...
 Change wet underwear and socks. ...
 Use an antifungal shampoo. ...
 Take a prescription antifungal.

Cancer
 Eat a healthy diet.
 Maintain a healthy weight and be physically active.
 Protect yourself from the sun.
 Get vaccinated.
 Avoid risky behaviors.
 Get regular medical care.
Diabetes
 Cut Sugar and Refined Carbs From Your Diet.
 Work Out Regularly.
 Drink Water as Your Primary Beverage.
 Lose Weight If You're Overweight or Obese.
 Quit Smoking.

Asthma
 Stay Away From Allergens.
 Avoid Smoke of Any Type.
 Prevent Colds.
 Allergy-Proof Your Home.
 Get Your Vaccinations.
 Consider Immunotherapy Allergy Shots
Infectious diseases are caused by microorganisms that
can hijack the nutrients and cellular machinery in our
bodies. Fortunately, our immune system and current
therapies can keep us healthy.

We can prevent non infectious disease by getting

plenty of exercise, avoiding high-fat foods, and staying at
a healthy weight . This is especially important for people
who have family members with the disease. Making these
healthy lifestyle choices can also help prevent some types
of cancer.
