III- Practical information

III.1- Mexican student life:

As for student life in Mexico, it is inexpensive and accompanied by many aids, especially at
the transport level, with financing aid if you meet certain criteria, the amount of the
scholarship is 200 pesos, which represents 9.88 euros.

In terms of housing, many students housing exists in particular in the heart of Mexico City.
Monthly utility costs are quite low in Mexico, especially water bills, since it can cost you $15
per month. Be aware, however, that tap water is not potable. This is why most people buy
bottled water, often in 20 liters containers.

For electricity, if you do not use the air conditioner, your electricity bill will reach $80 per
month, and if you use it, it can reach $200 per month. In addition, the Internet connection
will cost about $25.

In case of emergency, call 911

III.2- Mexican culture:

In general, Mexicans are very warm and generous people. They make travellers feel
comfortable and welcome in their country. They feel welcome.

There is also a difference in gastronomy. Mexican dishes are very spicy unlike French dishes.
Always ask the waiter for the degree of spice in the dishes before, or taste the sauces before
putting them in your dish.

Tips are also very popular in Mexico, they are almost automatic for any type of service.

The restaurants are open every day and all day.

The family is a crucial element in the lives of Mexicans. It plays a very important role in their
daily lives, whether it is the close or distant family, or family friends. The family is at the
center of the life of Mexicans.

Mexico is a country with a fairly rich culture thanks to the progressive mix of Spanish
cultures and indigenous culture.

This mixture between the two cultures has shaped the country as a whole, whether at the
level of gastronomy, architecture or religious level. But it is the language that remains the
most impacted by this diversity of cultures, because the whole of Mexicans speak Castilian.

Finally, Mexico remains a country in which drug cartels and crimes are very present. Some
places must be avoided, but the city of Monterrey remains quite safe. In some parts of the
country, military, naval and federal police forces have been deployed to fight organized
crime and improve security conditions but despite this the level of crime remains high
everywhere despite everything.
