It’s good that majority of the class

know the game, it will be easier for - “Yes ma’am.”
you, I
guess. The category for this game is
shape. Now, I will group you into too.
The right row will be the group 1 and
the left row is the group 2. you should
be quick in answering and of course
with correct answer. Did you
understand class?

B. Presentation

Class, our topic for today is all about - “Yes ma’am.”

the Solid Figures. are you ready to
know the different solid figures?

Very good! So, I want you to listen - “Yes ma’am.”

carefully and tell me if you get what
I mean okay class?

C. Discussion

Class, who among you had an - “Ma’am”, “Teacher”

idea about what is solid figures?

Yes Joan? - Solid figure is shape that

has length, width and
height.
Very good, let’stake a look and read
the definition of solid figure. - Solid figures are basically
three- dimensional objects,
which
Well done! Joan is right. It has length, means that they have length,
height and width.
height and width. And because of that
solid figures have three dimensions;
they have depth and take up space in
our universe.

Now, let’stake a look on the

following example of solid figures.

Kindly, read the examples of

solid figures class. - Examples of solid figures are
cube, triangular prism,
square pyramid, rectangular
prism, sphere, triangular
pyramid,
Very good, for today we will learn a cylinder, cone.
4- solid figure. The cube, cylinder,
cone and triangular prism.

Class, can you give an object that

looks like a cube?
- Box, rubic cube, ice cube
Very good! How about the cylinder?

Correct! How about an object that - Pipe, can goods, glass, pencil
looks like a cone?
- Chocolate kisses, ice
cream cone, carrots,
Very good, last but not the least a
triangular prism.
- House roof, Toblerone,

Very good. In a solid figure there is

what they called face, vertex and edge.
Class, kindly read the definition of face. - A face is any flat surface. The
flat surface that makes the
front of an object is called a
face.
Many solid figures have
Very good! Take a look on the picture more than one face.
in front.
Class, the picture shows the face in
a cube solid figure. Guess how
many faces are there in a cube? - Six (6) teacher.

How can you say that the face of

the cube is 6 Melvin?
- Ma’am because the shape is all
equal and we can place any
Very well said Melvin. Anyone side as the face or base of cube.
who want to point the 6 faces of
cube? - (Pupil will volunteer)

How about the cylinder? How many

faces do you think are there in - There are 3 faces in the cylinder.
cylinder? Yes Mary?

Let’s see if you are correct.

Vey good Mary. There are 3 faces in

a cylinder such as the front, the top
and the bottom or flat surface and
curve
surface can be a face.

Anyone who want to point the 6 faces - (Pupil will volunteer)

of cylinder?

How about the cone, how many faces - Ma’am there are 2 faces in
do you think are there? a cone.

Let’s see if Magno is correct.

Very good! 2 faces composed 1
lateral face and 1 curved Surface.

Lastly, how many faces do you think

are there in a triangular prism? Yes - There are 5 faces of triangular
Dave? prism compose of 3
rectangular lateral surfaces and
2 triangular bases.

Now class, did you understand what - Yes ma’am.

is face all about in the solid figure?

Okay let’s proceed in the vertex. - Vertex is the corner that is

Kindly read the definition of vertex. formed where the ends of
the line segments of two or
more faces meet.

Very good! Or in other word, vertex is

where the two intersect in a point.
Like the example below.

The circle one is an example of vertex.

Class let’stake a look and count for - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8.

the vertex of cube.
Now class, how many vertex is there
in a cube? - 8 vertexes teacher.

Very good! Who will come in front

and point the 8 vertexes of cube? - (pupils will volunteer)

How about the cylinder? Yes, Sheena?

- 0 Teacher because it is round.

That is correct, there is no vertex in

a cylinder. How about the cone? - 1 vertex teacher.

Very good! How may vertex be there in

triangular prism? - 6 vertexes teacher.

Did you understand what is vertex

class? - Yes teacher.

If that so, let’s proceed to Edge.

Everybody read the definition of edge. - Two faces intersect in
aline segment is called an
EDGE edge.

The illustration here shows what is

meant by edge. Now class, take a
look on the cube. How many edge/s
do you think are there?
- 12 edges teacher.

Correct! Can anyone point the 12

edges of cube?
- (Pupil will volunteer)
Very good! Now, how may edge/s
do cylinder have?
- 2 edges teacher.

Joy, can you come in front and point

the 2 edges?
- (Joy will go and point the edges)
Awesome! How about the edge of
a cone?
- 1 edge teacher.
Very good! How many edge/s do - 9 edges teacher.
the Triangular Prism have?

Correct! Can anyone point the 9 - (pupils will volunteer)

edges in front?

D. Generalization

Did you understand our lesson for - Yes teacher.

today class?

Let me see. What is our topic for today? - Solid Figures (cube, prism,
pyramid, cylinder, cone
and sphere)

Very good! In solid figure there are - The flat surface that makes the
face, vertex and edge. What is meant by front of an object is called a face.
face class?

Great! How about the vertex? - Vertex is the corner that is

formed where the ends of
the line segments of two or
more faces meet.

Good Job! Lastly, what is edge? - Two faces intersect in

aline segment is called an
edge.
Correct! Class, do you think solid
figure is important to our life? - Yes teacher, it
beautifies structures.
- Yes teacher because we can see
every corner of an object when
it is solid figure.
- Yes teacher because it makes
the structure strong.

Very good class.

E. Application

Class, I will group you into 2. Each

group will be given a cartolina and
pentel pen. In that cartolina you will
draw an object as many as you can and
present in front. When you present
your output, you should tell the name
of the object and tell what solid figure - Yes ma’am
it is. (Pupils will do the activity.)
Also, give the faces, edge, and vertex of
that object Did you understand class?

IV. EVALUATION
Instruction: Give the Face, Vertex, and Edge of the following solid figures.

V. Draw an object that you can see inside of your house and identify what solid figure
does the object belong.
