THE STORY OF AN HOUR BY KATE CHOPIN

In this short story, our main character's husband dies after a terrible train
accident, and his wife, who learns this, is very sad, but at the same time thinks
that she will be free.but then she realizes that it is not normal for her to feel this
way, and begins to question why she feels this way.

From this moment on, the young woman begins to question her life. She thinks
about her marriage, the pressure it puts on and what society expects from her.
Her husband's death meant that she was now a widow and she was worried
about what society would think of her, but at the same time, she dont have to
staying at home, care for children or cook anymore. She escapes from the
institution of marriage that he is trapped in. She feels that a heavy weight has
been lifted from her shoulders and is free for the first time in her life. In fact,
nothing is as he thinks. She locked herself in her room and collapsed on the
couch, just crying and thinking. Her sister was worried about her and asked her
to open the door, but she didn't open the door, saying that she was fine. She
blamed herself for feeling free now, but then she realized that she didn't really
like her husband and all the things he had to do. And then when the door was
opened, the woman who saw her husband alive in front of her, who she thought
died, had a heart attack in shock and died. The doctor said that she had a heart
attack from happiness.

In summary, we can understand what this short story is trying to tell from
Louise's thoughts. It clearly conveys the pressure of a woman in marriage and
that she has no place in society without her husband and that she cannot be
counted as an individual. In my opinion, the reason why she died was the
disappointment of losing the freedom she thought she had just gained.
