Planning for Learners

Differentiation: The various parts of the turkey puppet could be
outlined on the colored paper so that the students only need to
cut on the line. If further assistance is needed, the parts of the
turkey could be pre-cut.

Modifications/Accommodations: The student could be given the

assistance of an aid to help them complete their various
activities. The aid could act as a scribe for the student, in which
the student will orally state their sentences and the teacher will
write them down.

Lesson Presentation
Introduction
Can anyone tell the class what holiday is quickly
approaching?
While Christmas is just around the corner, Thanksgiving
comes first! Thanksgiving is placed right between Halloween
and Christmas!

“I have a fun video for you all to introduce you to today’s

lesson. So, I want you all to stand up. There are a few different
motions to this song that I want you to learn for the chorus, and
then the other parts of the song are free to dance however you
think is appropriate to go along with the song.” (It may be
necessary to remind the students that they are to still follow the
classroom rules.

Who wants to share first about their favorite Thanksgiving

tradition?
Remember a tradition is an event or belief that people
observe and repeat in the same way at the same time of the year/
month/ week/ day. For example, my favorite tradition of
Thanksgiving is putting up the Christmas tree on Thanksgiving
night after a day of lots of yummy food!
