the Fi y-Ninth Annual

OzCon Interna onal

July 28-30, 2023 in Pomona, California
Kellogg-West Conference Center
Join us for three days of Ozzy fun and programming at the 59th Annual OzCon Interna onal! The wait is over…
we’re back to a full three-day schedule of events at beau ful Kellogg West Conference Center on the Cal-Poly
campus in Pomona. Near three major airports (Ontario, John Wayne, and LAX) and seated atop a wooded hill with
lovely views, this site can feel almost like Oz itself!

Our 2023 theme is Oz in Anima on. For almost as long as Oz has been adapted for the big screen, it has also been
adapted for anima on in various forms. This year, we will explore how animators in the last century have depicted
Oz, from cel anima on to CGI. As well as anima on, we will celebrate the centennial anniversary of Ruth Plumly
Thompson’s 1923 book, The Cowardly Lion of Oz, featuring unique characters such as No a Bit More and Bob Up.

Leading our line of guest speakers are members of the produc on team from Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz. As one
of the latest animated Oz shows, Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz ed in elements of both the MGM movie and the
book series and introduced a new genera on to Oz. More star-studded guest speakers we currently have lined up
so far include the produc on team from the short stop-mo on lm The Tin Woods, Oz scholar Dina Massachi
serving up one of her signature talks on Baum and the evolu on of Oz in pop culture, and Winkie Conven on co-
founder (1964), Ryan Bunch discussing his new book Oz and the Musical, and Oz bibliographer Peter Han . Watch
for further updates on guest speakers by following us on OzCon’s social media pages.

The fun will begin on Friday, July 28, with registra on and single-track programming of talks and panels. A er
dinner, we’ll have the evening programming. Come catch up with friends and make some new ones!

Saturday, July 29th will o er mul -track programming throughout the day including the return of OzCon favorites:
quizzes, costume contest, and the auc on! And since this year’s theme is anima on, keep an eye on the schedule
for lm screenings and Behind the Scene talks, as well as a special performance of an extremely rate Oz play! Don’t
forget to check out our amazing dealers. It’s impossible to leave without new books or memorabilia.

Sunday, July 30th will end with single-track programming before we wind down.

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner for each day will be served as well as the tradi onal Saturday night Banquet so make
sure to get your ckets for all your meals when you get your conven on ckets!

You must make your own lodging arrangements. We have a large block of hotel rooms on hold at the Kellogg West,
but those are sure to sell out. You can also extend your stay a day ahead or beyond the conven on dates. So don’t
delay in reserving your spot. As always, you are welcome to share a room with another OzCon a endee to make
your stay more a ordable and more fun. Kellogg West hotel rooms have such features as refrigerators, co ee
makers, daily newspaper, wall-mounted HDTVs, and complimentary high-speed wireless internet access. The hotel
o ers a swimming pool and spa and complimentary parking.

We’ll see you soon!
