Submission on the UK continuing to participate in Erasmus+ to the International Commission of

Labour’s National Policy Forum

The UK continuing to participate in Erasmus+ would answer in part the question “What should be
Labour’s priorities for Brexit, and how can we most effectively shape the outcome and hold the
Government to account?” asked in the International Commission’s discussion paper. It would allow
the UK to continue to enjoy the benefit of educational activities in Europe.

Erasmus+ is the European Union's programme to support education, training, youth and sport in
Europe. It provides opportunities to study, train, gain experience, and volunteer in Europe.
Although Erasumus+ is an EU program, several non-EU countries participate in it, such as the
former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein and Turkey. There is no
reason why the UK could not continue to participate in Erasumus+ after leaving the EU. The UK
continuing to participate in Erasmus+ does not mean that the UK remains in part in the EU.

I would like to submit a proposal for the UK to continue to participate in Erasmus+.
