pie chart.
Some could

 Be able to calculate the result and

illustrate information on a pie chart and do
critical thinking questions involving
two pie charts and making two
statements that could support the data.

REAL LIFE APPLICATION AND CROSS

CURRICULAR /COMMUNITY LINKS/UAE
LINKS/BRITISH VALUES:
NEW VOCABULARY:
 Data REAL LIFE APPLICATION:
 Segments Pie charts are often used in business. Examples
 Category include showing percentages of types of customers,
percentage of revenue from different products, and profits

showing the relationship of parts to the whole when there
are a small number of levels.
CROSS CURRICULUM:
In statistics it is a way of summarizing a set of nominal
data or displaying the different values of a given
variable (e.g. percentage distribution). This type of chart
is a circle divided into a series of segments. Each segment
represents a particular category.

COMMUNITY LINKS:

UAE LINKS:
The pie chart gives information on UAE government

Teaching & Learning Activities (35mins)
DEVELOPMENT : The teacher will discuss the definition of a graph with students: a diagram that visually shows the
relationship between numbers or amounts. pie charts (or circle graphs) are used to represent data as portions (or
segments) of a whole.  1% = 3.6º
Activity : 1 ( 8 mins) Draw a circle and list five different percentages that add up to 100%.
Write the percentages on the board. Show the students a rough estimation of how to divide the circle to match the provided percentages.
