British father. She spent her childhood in England, her father left the family when she was 8 years old. He had to move with his mother to Holland due to the War, but the Germans soon invaded the country. Many family members, including her brother, died and she had to fight to survive. After the war she returned to England to continue her dance career. She did small roles in movies until William Wyler offered her the lead role in "Roman Holiday," for which she won the Oscar for best actress. From that moment on, he started shooting non- stop: "Breakfast at Tiffany's, Charada, Sabrina ... He married Mel Ferrer in 1954 and in 1960 his first son Sean was born and in 1970 Luca Andrea, the result of his marriage to Andrea Dotti, whom he divorced six years later. He retired from the cinema for a few years to dedicate himself to his children.
