Assignment Overview

This assignment requires you to reflect on your learning from the module to explain the importance of a reflective
approach to learning and the value of formative feedback to inform and improve summative assessed work. This
assignment will help students build future careers by knowing their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats
more comprehensively so that they can make a better choice about their careers in the future.

This assignment has been designed to provide you with an opportunity to demonstrate your
achievement of the following module learning outcomes:

LO 1 Understand the importance of a reflective approach to learning within the Business and Management
discipline;

LO 2 Demonstrate the ability to use feedback and feed-forward as an integral to inform and improve future
formative and summative assessed work;

Assignment Task and Requirements

Explain the value of reflective learning and how a reflective approach to feedback and
feed-forward might enlighten and enhance next formative and summative evaluated
work.
WHAT ARE YOU ASKED TO DO?

Prepare a 1500-word essay that demonstrates the value of reflective learning and in what ways the
reflective approach could improve the formative and summative submission.

This task will require you to include all the followings

1. An explanation of what is meant by reflective learning, feedback, and feedforward.


2. A demonstration of how the reflective approach could improve the formative and summative
submission.
3. A concluding remark of how to practice reflective learning in study.

Important:

All your work must be based on reliable research and have a minimum of 15 different sources
within it. Please ensure you use both direct and indirect citations.

Assignment Guide and Format

Your essay needs to include the following:

1. Introduction (150 words) should state the aim of the essay, define reflective learning and other key
concepts, and outline the content of the essay. The content of the essay should include a relevant model of
reflection, description of a reflective approach to feedback and feed-forward, and how this can inform and
improve formative and summative assessments.

2. First body paragraph (400 words) should describe reflection and reflective approach to learning, using a
relevant model of reflection (e.g., Gibbs’ reflective cycle model, 1988)

3. Second body paragraph (400 words) should describe the nature of feedback and feed-forward, and the use
of your chosen model for reflection on feedback and feed-forward.

4. Third body paragraph (400 words) should describe how a reflective approach to feedback and feed-
forward can inform and improve future formative and summative assessments.

5. Conclusion (150 words) should link back to the aim of the essay and briefly restate your main points, in
addition to your final thought or reflection on the significance of the topic.

Important:
1. You must use the correct Canterbury Harvard Referencing conventions* for your in-text citations and
reference list (*Please refer to the Canterbury Harvard Referencing Guide)
2. You must use and reference at least four core texts and academic resource materials provided in Moodle.
3. All your work must be based on reliable research and have a minimum of 15 different sources within it.
4. Include your student ID number, module name, tutor name, academic year/group bubble in your cover page
which should be the first page of your essay.
5. The task requirement is an essay not a report or reflective journal. You must therefore ensure that
your structure, outline, content, style, and presentation conform with academic writing conventions
for an essay. In particular:
i. Use the passive voice.
ii. It is not necessary to include a table of contents or subheadings in an essay.
6. You must use and reference at least four core texts and academic resource materials provided in
Moodle.
7. You must use a minimum of 15 sources, including textbooks, journals, and other reliable and

credible published and web sources.
8. Do not use Wikipedia or unverifiable blogs
9. Include your student ID number, module name, tutor name, academic year/group bubble in your
cover page, which should be the first page of your essay.

10. Ensure that all sources used in the essay are acknowledged using in-text citations in the body of your
essay with the full references included in the reference list.

Referencing and research requirements

Please reference your work according to the Canterbury Harvard Referencing style guidance. You can
access this on Moodle.

For each reference used, provide the full Harvard reference within your references section and the core in-
text citation if you are referencing something in your text.

Include both direct and indirect citations from a wide variety of sources.

How your work will be assessed

Your work will be assessed on the extent to which it demonstrates your achievement of the stated learning
outcomes for this assignment (see above) and against other key criteria, as defined in the University’s
institutional grading descriptors. If it is appropriate to the format of your assignment and your subject area,
a proportion of your marks will also depend upon your use of academic referencing conventions.

This assignment will be marked according to the grading descriptors for Level 0.

Submission details

This assignment should be submitted electronically via Moodle (module tutors will discuss this process with
you during class time).

 Please ensure that your work has been saved in an appropriate file format (Microsoft Word, Excel
or PowerPoint, or PDF are the most widely used; Google Docs is also accepted). Your file must
also contain at least 20 words of text, consist of fewer than 400 pages and be less than 40MB in
size.

 You can submit your work as many times as you like before the submission date. If you do submit
your work more than once, your earlier submission will be replaced by the most recent version.

 Please ensure that you have submitted your work in the correct link on the assessment tab.

 Once you have submitted your work, you will receive a digital receipt as proof of submission, which
will be sent to your forwarded e-mail address (provided you have set this up). Please keep this
receipt for future reference, along with the original electronic copy of your assignment
