Shopping is necessary part of life. It’s a daily routine for some people.
The weekend is usually a good time to go
shopping; because, people have free time from work. Every Friday morning, my father and I go to the market place “Souk” to buy some food. There are many kinds of food; vegetables, fruits, and seafood. The Souk is divided into sections depending on the types of products the merchants sell. There is the fruits and vegetables ‘section such as (tomatoes, potatoes, garlic, courgettes... bananas, apples, dates, grapes.). The spices, herbs and oils section, the seafood section and other kinds of goods. The Souk is opposite the bus station and next to the clothing store, so it is not very far from my house. It takes just ten minutes. My father prefers to go to the souk because food is cheaper there. I love shopping. Teacher’s Script Ali: Good morning! Ahmed: Hello, how are you? Ali: I am fine, thanks. Ali: I want about a stone of potatoes. I’m having my friends for lunch so that will be about five people in total. Ahmed: Ok, I’d say it’s just about right. Ali: Yes, I think so. Ahmed: Did you need anything else? Ali: Well, give me one head of lettuce, half a kilo of carrots, and half a kilo of tomatoes. Ahmed: Right away. So...anything else? The strawberries Ali: No, I don’t think so. Yea – I forgot! I need something for dessert. What do you recommend? Ahmed: The strawberries I got today are very sweet and juicy. A head of lettuce Ali: How much a kilo? Ahmed: 400 DA to yourself, sir Ali: They’re a little bit expensive, aren’t they? Ahmed: No, that’s the normal price. Ali: Ok, I’ll take a quarter of a kilo, just to try them. Ahmed: Great, do you need anything else? Ali: I don’t think so. I must go, it’s getting late. Ahmed: Yes, it’s two o’clock. ………..
