Instructions for Students

 Read the questions carefully before answering

 Drawing should be only on one side of the page.
 All students should bring their own drawing equipment and drawing book/sheet.
 Numbers in the parenthesis at the end of each question indicate Maximum Marks.
 All dimensions are in mm. (unless specified otherwise)
 Thick continuous lines should demark the solution to each question

Draw the borderlines as per the specification given in the theory class. Use the correct type of pencil
judiciously. Draw the title box as explained in the theory class on the first tutorial sheet as per the
dimensions stated. Write all the relevant information (name, roll number, date etc.) in the title box
using the correct type of pencil. All the other supplementary sheets should have border lines.

Questions

1. Draw an ellipse such that the major axis of the ellipse is 120mm and the minor axis of the ellipse is
60mm. (10)

2. Draw a parabola and an ellipse (on a separate axis) using the definition of the directrix and the focus,
given that the focus is 50mm from the directrix. Take the eccentricity ratio for the ellipse = 2/3. For
generating the points, space lines 5 mm apart. (20)

3. Draw the involute of a semicircle whose diameter is 60mm. The semicircle is kept on a flat plane
which is tangent to the semicircle and parallel to the diameter of the semicircle. (10)

4. Draw a cycloid of a circle of diameter 50 mm rolling up an inclined plane at an angle of 30 degrees

to the horizontal. (10)
