1. Inoculation Theory

Inoculation theory states that inoculation is used to describe the attribution of greater
resistance to individuals. McGuire devised the inoculation idea in response to a
circumstance in which the goal is to persuade someone not to be persuaded by
another. The theory is a method for increasing people's resistance to persuasion
attempts by exposing them to arguments that contradict their views and providing
them with counter-arguments.

2. Problematic Integration Theory

Problematic integration (PI) theory illuminates the communicative construction of

several common, important, and interrelated forms of troublesome meaning including
uncertainty, ambivalence, discrepant beliefs and desires, and impossibility. The
foundation of PI is that message processing, specifically the establishment of
probabilistic and evaluative orientations (our beliefs of the possibility of something
happening and its value, respectively), is a social and cultural construct.

3. Social Cognitive Theory

Social cognitive theory is a learning theory developed by the renowned Stanford

psychology professor Albert Bandura. The theory provides a framework for
understanding how people actively shape and are shaped by their environment.
Individual experiences, other people's actions, and environmental circumstances all
have an impact on individual health behaviours, according to Social Cognitive Theory
(SCT). Instilling expectations, self-efficacy, and applying observational learning and
other reinforcements to facilitate behaviour change, SCT provides opportunities for
social support.
