THE PRIESTLY VOWS

Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament

The people kneel while singing the “O Salutaris.” The priest or deacon brings the Blessed
Sacrament from the Tabernacle to the altar and places it in the monstrance. The priest or
deacon kneels and incenses the Blessed Sacrament.

O Salutaris Hostia

O salutaris Hostia,
Quae caeli pandis ostium:
Bella premunt hostilia,
Da robur, fer auxilium.
Uni trinoque Domino
Sit sempiterna gloria,
Qui vitam sine termino
Nobis donet in patria.
Amen.

Introduction
 Jesus, who truly present in the Blessed Sacrament of the Altar,
calls every believer to labor in the vineyard of the Lord. In His presence,
let us renew our commitment to continuously deny ourselves, take up
our own cross, and follow in the footsteps of Jesus, our Lord and King,
so that our life may inspire many young men and women to discern their
own calling, and respond to it with generosity and love.

Almighty and loving God, our Divine Caller, we beg your
infinite mercy grant us forgiveness of our sins so that we may be
admitted to your holy presence in purity of heart. Grant us the
grace to persevere in our holy vocation so that we may bear fruit in
all we do for the glory of your kingdom. We ask this through Christ
our Lord. Amen
A READING FROM THE BOOK OF THE PROPHET JEREMIAH
(Jeremiah 1:4-9)
Now the word of the Lord came to me saying, “Before I formed
you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born, I consecrated
you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” Then I said, “Ah, Lord
God! Truly I do not know how to speak, for I am only a boy.” But the
Lord said to me, “Do not say, I am only a boy’ for you shall go to all to
whom I send you, and you shall speak whatever I command you. Do not
be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you, says the Lord.”
Then the Lord put out His hand and touch my mouth; and the Lord
said to me, “Now I have put my words into your mouth.”

A READING FROM THE SECOND LETTER OF ST. PAUL TO THE

CORINTHIANS (2 Corinthians 4:7-11)
But we have this treasure in clay jars, so that may be made clear
that this extraordinary power belongs to God and does not come from us.
We are afflicted in every way, but not forsaken; struck down, but not
destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life
of Jesus may also be made visible in our bodies. For while we live, we
are always being given up to the death for Jesus’ sake, so that the life if
Jesus may be made visible in our mortal flesh.

MATTHEW (Matthew 16:24-26)
Then Jesus told his disciples, “If any want to become my
followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross and follow
me. For those who want to save their life will lose it, and those who lose
their life for my sake will find it. For what the will it profits them if they
gain the whole world but forfeit their life? Or what will give in return for
their life?

Most sweet Jesus, we humbly kneel at your feet. We renew our
commitment as laborers in the vineyard of the Father. We implore you to
sustain us in our daily struggle, so that we may remain faithful to our
vocation and, by our fidelity, lead your people to discover their own
calling and inspire them to persevere in your service until the end. We
ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen
