Non-Formal education has a more informal environment and is aimed at a different audience
group while a formal education is more precise in their approach.
Process Question:
1. How are the formal and the non-formal education differ? How are they similar?
Formal education takes place full-time and does not permit other parallel activities, especially
productive work. Non-formal education is part-time, and activities may be timed in a variety of
ways to meet the needs and convenience of learners.
2. Which type of education are you in, the formal or the non-formal? Why?
I am enrolled in a formal education wherein I am in a standardized method of hierarchically
structured and progressive schooling.
3. Give example/s of formal and non-formal education.
Examples of formal learning include classroom instruction, web-based training, remote labs, e-
learning courses, workshops, seminars, webinars, etc.
Example of non-formal learning Boy Scouts and Girls Guides develop some sports program such
as swimming comes under non-formal education, Fitness programs, Community-based adult
education courses, and free courses for adult education developed by some organization.
4. Why do you think they are important in the society?
Both Formal and Non-formal education are important in the society for they provide each
learner knowledge and skills to help the community.
