Hillary Clinton was often described as a "first" throughout her life and career. She was the first governor's wife in Arkansas history to work while her husband was in office. As First Lady, she helped shape her husband's administration and was the first to visit and speak at the UN's conference on women's rights in China. She later became the first former first lady elected to the United States Senate and the first to hold a cabinet position as Secretary of State. Unfortunately, though she was the first woman to secure a major party's nomination for president in 2016, she did not become the first woman president.

crowd roared through the halls of the event center . As she took the stage a hush fell over the crowd and as she spoke the exuberance of the room began to fade. Life always finds a way to humble us. It's unfortunate, but it always happens. It's inevitable. Perhaps a self fulfilling prophecy, the life of one Hillary Rodham Clinton is a prime example of life’s remarkable ability to humble us. Though it may seem an inconsequential fact Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton was her parents “first” a word that would follow her around for the rest of her life. Born in Chicago in 1947 Hillary Diane Rodham, had a relatively normal life; her mother was a homemaker and her father, the former chief petty officer of the Great Lakes Naval Station, had started a successful drapery supply business. Her family lived in a middle class neighborhood in the suburbs of chicago. Hillary was an extremely gifted student throughout her primary and high school education, Because of this she was able to attend the prestigious Wesleyan college in 1969 and later on Yale Law School. While at Yale University Hillary met her husband Bill Clinton and a few short years later they were married in their living room in Arkansas. A few years later and her husband Bill Clinton is elected Governor of Arkansas and Hillary Clinton has the 1st of her life filled with 1sts and is the first governor's wife in Arkansas history to work while her husband was in office. From that moment on Hillary Clinton became a trailblazer in every field she explored. After her husband’s stint as governor of Arkansas he ran and was elected President of the United States, thus making Hillary the First Lady. During her husband's time as First Lady she was not content spending her days hosting meaningless social engagements instead- she helped her husband shape his administration's political policy. She was also the 1st First Lady to visit and speak at the UN’s conference on women's rights in China. After her husband's time in the white house she decided to “retire” to New York state where she later would become the 1st former first lady ever elected to the United States Senate. From there she would run against Barack Obama for the 2008 Democratic Presidential Primary where she was winning until she was told to”stand down” by the party because they didn't think she could beat John McCain. She was then appointed to the position of US Secretary of State making her the 1st former First Lady to hold a cabinet position. Hillary Clinton would continue her streak of “firsts” when she became the 1st woman to secure a major political party’s nomination for President in 2016. Unfortunately for many that would be the end of her streak of firsts.
Though Hillary Clinton never made it to the
highest office in this nation despite running twice she was a trailblazer and inspiration for women around the worlds who’s contributions to the sex of women is too often over looked or forgotten.
