LEDs OLEDs
• Nick Holonyak turned on the world's first LED in 1962, producing
monochromatic red light.
“The latest dramatic laser discoveries, (…) may someday make the electric
light obsolete, (…) If these plans work out, the lamp of the future may be a
speck of metal the size of a pencil-point which will be practically
indestructible, will never burn out, and will convert at least ten times as
much current into to light as does today's bulb.”
• For over three decades, LEDs were utilized only as indicator lights in
household electric appliances and other applications.
• With the technological advancements, the LEDs rapidly moved into the
field of lighting and gained a significant position as an essential light
source in the fight against greenhouse gas emissions and global
warming.
• The Nobel Prize in Physics 2014 was awarded jointly to Isamu
Akasaki, Hiroshi Amano and Shuji Nakamura "for the invention of
efficient blue light-emitting diodes which has enabled bright and
energy-saving white light sources".

Lighting Simulation Programs – DIALux Evo DIALux Evo – Youtube Channel

DIALux – is an important software for planning, calculation
and visualisation of indoor and outdoor lighting. The
software makes professional lighting design easier and
accessible to everyone. DIALux is available as a desktop
version and as a basic mobile app.
With Dialux you can design, calculate and visualize light for
single rooms, whole floors, buildings and outdoor scenes.
You can plan and design using the electronic luminaire
catalogues of numerous luminaire manufacturers. You can
also superimpose on the CAD data of other architectural
programmes and create your own lighting design.
With Dialux Evo it’s possible to use artificial light and
daylight together in buildings along with calculations for
outdoor areas and road lighting.

• With DIALux Mobile the user can plan a lighting system roughly on site. With the mobile version it is possible to
enter the room dimensions and select the lighting requirements such as illuminance and maintenance factor
from the utilization profiles. The calculation result shows the number of luminaires required and where these
should be placed to achieve the prescribed average illuminance, as well as the overall performance and specific
connected load.
