B. Lesson Proper

(Presentation of topic and objective)

 Topic: Components of computer hardware

 Objectives:

At the end of 60 minutes period, the students will be able to:

a. Identify the parts and function of computer hardware

b. Perform PC unit assembly/disassembly in accordance with established procedure and
system requirements
c. Appreciate the importance of skills in assembling/disassembling computer hardware
The teacher will discuss the following Basic Hardware components and functions of Computer
System.

PARTS OF KEYBOARD

1) Hard
Disk
Is a high capacity, non-volatile, magnetic data storage
device with a volume (disk) that is usually non-
removable. Hard disk work is to permanently store and
retrieve computer data.

2) Mot

boa
rd It is the main circuit board of a microcomputer.

3) Power supply

This enables different power supplies to be

interchangeable.
4) H
e
a
t It transfers heat generated within a solid material to a
fluid medium.

Sink

5) Syst
em
case Also known as a computer chassis the primary function
of a computer case is to protect the computer’s
components from harm.
RAM Is a volatile, meaning it holds data only when the
power is on also Reading Files, Temporary Storage,
Loading Applications.

6) RAM

7) CPU The portion of a computer system that carries out the

instructions.

 CPU is considered as the brain of the computer.

 CPU performs all types of data processing
operations.
 It stores data, intermediate results, and
instructions (program).
 It controls the operation of all parts of the
computer.

8) DVD ROM Designed to optically access data stored on a DVD.

9) Video Card

An expansion card which generates a feed of output

images.
The teacher will divide the class into two (2) Groups and each group will be given a task
separately, given the following directions:

GROUP 1:

The group will identify the parts of the Basic Hardware Components given the functions already.
Students will paste the printed picture to its appropriate function.

GROUP 2:

Given the parts of the Basic Hardware Components; students will give the functions by posting it
to its appropriate parts of the Basic Hardware Components.

6. Application

 The teacher will conduct a demonstration in performing disassembly/assembling PC unit

the proper way in accordance with established procedure and system requirements.

 Task will be conduct by group

 They will be graded according to the rubrics
