The Pie Chart
The Pie Chart
One of the main arguments for working without pay at a young age is that it gives you valuable
experience. Although it would clearly be most beneficial if one could receive fair compensation for the
time they have spent working for somebody else, it is also important to point out that a considerable
amount of people lacking skills and experience for specific professions are often just sitting around
doing nothing to make them more attractive for their future employers. Working without receiving
anything in return, however, would motivate those people to get out of their comfort zone and
guarantee a better job in the long run.
Moving onto the second point, another aspect to consider is that companies recruiting school leavers
could easily take advantage of the youngsters and use them as a cheap source of labor. This in turn
could lead to young people being stressed and even less motivated to fulfill their potential and get a
well paid job.
Overall, although this issue has its downsides, I believe that young people not qualified for jobs would
benefit greatly from working without money as that would be the most effective way to provide them
with some valuable skills and experience to make them stand out from the crowd.
