AC LOAD -100&

LIGHTING LOAD 100%

COOKING APPLY DF as per section 2.20.3.16

OTHER LOADS such as dryer, WM, WH, Pumps, etc not mentioned in the above demand factor is 40%

Lets compute the example in PEC, there are some typo errors in the example of PEC

project more than 150m2.
5.1 Air Conditioning Load: (See Section 2.20.3.23)

i. Two 6-kVA package type air-conditioning units = 12000 VA

ii. Six 1.5-Hp room air-conditioning units, 10A x 230V x 6 = 13800 VA

5.2 Lighting and Convenience Receptacle Load: (See Section 2.20.3.23)

(Note that convenience receptacle load refers to the outlets in toilets, outdoor, garage etc.)

iii. 250m2 x 24 VA/m = 6000VA

5.3 Cooking Load: (See Section 2.20.3.16)

Iv. Two 4-kW wall mounted ovens, 4000 VA x 2 =8000VA

v. One 8-kW electric range = 8000VA

Subtotal Load (iv and v) 16000 VA

Application of Demand Factor of cooking load : (See Table 2.20.3.16 Column B for 3 cooking appliances
referring to note 3 of table)

vi. subtotal of iv and v = 16000 volt-amperes x 0.55 = 8800 VA

vii. One 1.5 kW microwave oven (See Table 2.20.3.16 Column A) = 1200 VA

viii. One 12-kW electric range (See Table 2.20.3.16 Column C) = 8000 VA

Subtotal of demanded Cooking Load (vi, vii, viii) =18000 VA

5.4 Other Loads (to be demanded by 40%) :

ix. One (ten) 20-ampere small appliance circuit@ 1 500 volt-amperes = 1500 VA (typo error)

Instead of 10 circuit, computation only 1

x. One laundry washing machine @ 1 500 volt-amperes = 1500 VA

xi. One 5-kW clothes dryer = 5000 VA

xii. Four 5-kW water heaters =20000VA

xiii. One 1.5-Hpwaterpump, 10Ax230V =2300VA

xiv. Total Other Loads(ix,x,xi,xii,xiii) = 43800VA

Application of Demand Factor: (See Section 2.20.3.23)

xv. Total of other loads = 438000 volt-amperes x 0.40 =17520VA

Total Net Computed Load (AC, general lighting, cooking load subtotal, other load DL) =72840 VA

project more than 150m2.
5.5 Service Entrance Conductor:

I = [72840+ 25%(6000)]/ 230 = 323.22 Amperes

Considering 20% future loads, hence

I = 323.22 x 1.25 = 404.025 Amperes

Use 2-325mm2 THW

5.5 Service Equipment:

I = [72840+ 150%(6000)]/ 230 = 355.82 Amperes

Considering 20% future loads, hence

I = 355.82 x 1.25 = 444.78 Amperes

Use 450AT, 2P, 250V MCCB

For equipment grounding conductor use 1-30mm2 TW

Therefore: 2-325mm2 THW+1-30mm2 TW

450AT, 2P, 250V
