QUANTIFIERS

Every and each: We use the quantifiers every and each with singular nouns to mean all:

Example:

a. There was a party in every street. (= There were parties in all the streets.)
b. Every shop was decorated with flowers. (= All the shops were decorated with flowers.)
c. Each child was given a prize. (= All the children were given a prize.)
d. There was a prize in each competition. (= There were prizes in all the competitions.)
e. We visit our daughter every Christmas.(= We visit our daughter all Christmas

Little / A little
LITTLE = It’s used with uncountable nouns to express negative ideas.

Example:

a. I have little sugar to finish the dessert

b. I have little time to complete the test.

A LITTLE = It’s used with uncountable nouns to express positive ideas.

Example:
a. John has a little free time tomorrow.
b. I still have a little milk in the fridge.
c. I am going to sleep a little bit.
A lot / a lot of

A LOT / A LOT OF : It’s used with any noun and most verbs, to express a large quantity:
