Detailed Lesson Plan in Science 1

Learners: Grade 9 Students

Time Length: 50 minutes
Date: Oct 19-21, 2022

I. Learning Objectives
At the end of the lesson the student should be able to:
a) Describe how the Bohr model of the atom improved Rutherfords atomic Model
b) Appreciate the importance of Bohr’s model; and
c) Perform an activity where students are able to draw the Bohr’s model.
II. Subject Matter

• Instructional Materials: Power point presentation of Photosynthesis, Laptop, TV and

Visual aids.

d. Concept:
1.An atom is the smallest unit of ordinary matter that forms a chemical element. Every
solid, liquid, gas, and plasma is composed of neutral or ionized atoms.
2. The Quantum Mechanical Model of an atom was proposed by Erwin
Schrodinger in 1926. He developed an atomic model taking into account both the wave
and particle nature of the electron, which is known as the quantum mechanical model of
the atom.
3. Atoms are made of electrons, protons and neutrons. Protons and neutrons reside in the
nucleus. Atoms always have an equal number of protons and electrons and the number of
neutrons and electrons are usually the same as well. Protons are held together in the
nucleus by a strong force called Strong Nuclear force.
e. Values Integrated: Realize the importance of the Bohr’s model and why is it
important to understand.

III. Learning Procedures

A. Routinary Activity

• Prayer
Everybody stand and kindly lead the
prayer John. Yes, ma’am.

Holy Lord, thank you for grace. Please

help me move beyond the hurdles that
trip me up and give me the strength and
wisdom to look up and see the hope I run
toward in Christ. In Jesus name, Amen

• Greetings
Good morning, class! Good morning, Ma’am!

• Classroom Management
Before you take your seat, please pick (Students will pick up a piece of paper
up a piece of paper on the floor, and arrange their chair)
arrange your chair in a straight line.
You may now take your seats. Raise
hand first if you want to answer. Is that
clear?
And please be reminded about the
Covid 19 protocols.

• Checking of attendance
For your attendance, Ms. secretary is
there someone who is not present (Everyone is present ma’am)
today?

• Checking of assignment
Have you done the assignment given to
you last time?
Yes ma’am, were done.
Glad to hear that, for those are related
to what we are going to discussed
today.

• Review
Before we start let’s have a short recap of
the lesson that your teacher discussed to
you when you are in grade 8.
You have learned about Rutherford’s
model.
What do you mean by Rutherford’s model? Rutherford’s model indicate that atom is
an empty space that consist of protons
Now based on the diagram, what do you and neutrons.
think is this model? Neil Bohrs Model of atom ma’am.
Do you know the connection or why this
two model are related? I have no idea ma’am.
If that’s the case, that is what we will find
out today.
B. Motivation
Before we begin with our new topic today,
let’s have an activity.Your going to draw based
on the instruction that I’m going to tell you.I need
three volunteers on the board.
Instructions:
1. Draw a small circle inside and in the
middle of the big circle and shade the
small circle.
2. Then add another big circle where the
first drawing is inside of it.
3. Put tiny circle on each lines of the bigger
and the biggest circle.Read it constantly
for you to guess the correct answer.

After following the instructions, the teacher will

ask the students about the location of the energy
from the model.

Yes, maam!
Are you ready? Mika will put the location of the first
word in the model.
Okay let’s start! Ayessiah, will put the location of the
second word in the model
Mark will put the location of the third
one.
John will put the location of the last
word.

Yes, maam
How was the activity? Is it fun?

Based on your observation in the activity I think our lesson for today is about
what do you think would be the center of our Quantum Model ma’am
lesson today?
Yes, Shane!

Very Good!

C. Lesson Proper

Today, we will be discussing about the Bohrs

Model.
Do you have any idea what is Bohr’s model ? Leah: I have no idea ma’am.
If that’s the case, do you want to know more
about Bohr’s model?
To understand more about Bohrs Model let us Jansen: It is a system consisting of a

Yes, Jansen!
Lance: Aerobic and Anaerobic
Very good! respiration ma’am.
Do you know who is the proponent of this
model?
If that’s the case, do you want to know more
about Bohr’s model?

Now that you already know about photosynthesis

and cellular respiration lets have an activity to
test if you really understand the lesson.

plant and oxygen is a by-product.
Yes, Lyka Cellular respiration converts oxygen and
glucose into water and carbon dioxide.

If autotroph organism like plants can make Mae: Heterotroph organisms cannot
make their own food, they feed on plants
their own food, how about heterotroph? as their source of energy.

Yes, Mae!

If we need plants to survive, do you think Akyza; No ma’am/Yes, Ma’am because

plants needs carbon dioxide which
plants need us? human releases.

Yes, Akyza!

Very good!

Plants and animals feed on plant as their

source of energy and plants needs carbon
dioxide which animal released. They need to
coexist to maintain ecological balance.

But which do you think has the big

population in our present time?is it human or
plants. Leah: Ma’am human, because there are
lots of human activities that causes
Yes, Leah? decreasing of population of plants.

As student, what can you do to maintain Ysmael: As student we can plant trees to

ecological balance? maintain the ecological balance.

Yes, Ysmael! None so far ma’am.

No, ma’am.
Do you understand class?

Do you have any question? Yes, ma’am.

Can we now proceed to our next activity?
