The Philippines current progress in the COVID-19 response

The pandemic that we are currently facing at the moment has greatly affected our lives in

which we have adapted to the so-called “new normal”. Following certain protocols are a must for

every person that includes: proper sanitation; social distancing; wearing of masks; and etc.

wherein it prevents the spread of the virus. Every country in the world has the same problem in

which they face the adversity of the COVID-19 and its effects to the people. One of the countries

that are still coping is the Philippines. Just as every country, they have a plan in responding

against the virus.

According to the Global Fund, the country had recorded over 3 million confirmed cases

of COVID-19 with over 52,700 deaths. In addition, strict measures and lockdowns such as

Enhanced Community Quarantines (ECQ) are being imposed to stop the spreading. Unlike the

past issues of the government in response of the virus wherein evident rising of cases are seen

and imposing high alert levels to different places in the country to help stop the spreading of the

virus. The Philippines has improved its response in a way that aside there are 67.553,792

Filipinos being vaccinated. Based on a report done by the World Health Organization, it is also

evident that the improvement of healthcare utilization and low positivity rates are written last

April 25,2022.

However, despite the improvement of the response as each day passes by. The

government should not forget the ones who are left behind specifically the ones who are in

poverty situations in which they should be vaccinated and be aware of what situation we are
facing. Each and one of us should be accommodated and be protected by the government. Not

only we should rely on the government but also do our duty as Filipinos to practice and follow

safety protocols against the COVID-19 virus.

Nowadays, it is as well evident that people have become more careless on the situation

we are facing. Even if there are low positivity rates, it does not mean that we should be careless

or care-free rather we should still do our best to fight against the virus. In addition, the new

variant called as Omicron BA.212.1 has arrived marking 14 new cases as of May 14, 2022. This

is a big matter not only for us but the government to do their roles much quicker than the virus

that has already detected in the country.

As Filipinos, we should work hand in hand to make our future a better place to live in and

ending the pandemic with our actions. Being a role model by doing small acts that includes

following safety protocols serves as a big impact that could save the lives of many citizens as

well.
