Educational technology and technology

 Educational technology or ethics

-definition has evolved over the years as a variation of ways of dealing with learning
processes a conceptual framework theory and practice and the latest study and ethical
practices of dealing with technological processes and resources and

-educational technology is a combination of two terms the education and technology

- application of scientific knowledge about learning and the conditions of learning to

improve the effectiveness and efficiency of teaching and learning

 education

-is about learning skills and knowledge it also means helpingpeople to learn how to do
things and support them to think about what they learn it's also important for educators
to teach ways to find and use information but this is more than teaching up skills and
knowledge because in education we care for the teaching of values the improvement of
personality building of confidence and training them to respect the others

-education as the process of facilitating learning or the acquisition of knowledge skills

values and beliefs on the other hand the most simplest definition of technology is the
application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes

refers to how the people use their inventions and discovery to satisfy their educational needs
and desires according to james finn it also refers to the application of physical sciences and
engineering technology to provide mechanical instrument or hardware which can be used for
instructional purposes examples are the steel and motion picturestape records televisions
teaching machines and of course the computer-based teaching other comprehensive aspects
educational technology or et implies planning the implementing and evaluating a system in
education according to scientific

principles so as to achieve the

educational objectives at the maximum

level

the growing use of educational

technology helps to release the teacher

from the routine role

03:27

of information giving so that they can

03:29

devote their time and effort to the more

03:31

important

03:32
tasks of planning arranging and

03:34

evaluating learning experiences and

03:35

outcomes

03:37

these are some of the benefits of

03:40

educational technology

03:41

technology can make education more

03:43

effective because with the use of

03:45

technology instructions can have more

03:46

scientific base

03:48

it makes also instructions more powerful

03:51

this

03:51

is because with uh the use of

03:55

available resources and technologies

03:57

that makes instruction so powerful

03:59

and lastly the technology provides

04:01

immediate and equal access

04:03

to information now

04:06

let's talk about technology in education

04:10

technology in education is the study of

04:12

technology

04:13

in which students learn about the

04:14

processes and knowledge

04:16

related to technology as a field of

04:19

study

04:20

it covers the human ability to shape and

04:22

change the physical world to meet the

04:24

needs by manipulating materials

04:26

and tools with techniques but how

04:29

important is

04:30

the use of technology in education

04:35

we have been using technology so much

04:37
these days in age of every domain of our

04:39

lives

04:40

be it in education or the regular

04:43

household work

04:44

that have we ever taken out a second to

04:46

wonder if it's having a positive impact

04:48

on our work

04:49

or it's just that we have been relying

04:51

too much on it that we've become

04:52

habitual to it

04:54

and ignoring of course the direction of

04:56

its impact

04:58

say for instance it's technology causing

05:01

education to improve over time or we've

05:03

just been

05:04

catching up with the threat of

05:05

educational technology

05:08

earlier technology and education was a

05:10

debatable topic among society

05:13

everyone had their own views on

05:15

modernizing education

05:16

and make it technology aided there were

05:19

a huge number of positive and negatives

05:21

to education technology but gradually

05:24

as technology was embraced by

05:26

educational institutes

05:28

they realized the importance of

05:30

technology in education

05:32

it's a positive outnumber the negatives

05:34

and now

05:35

with technology education has taken a

05:38
whole new meaning

05:39

that it leaves us with no doubt that our

05:41

educational system

05:43

has been transformed owing to the ever

05:45

advancing technology

05:47

and technology and education are a great

05:49

combination if it is used together

05:51

with the right vision and in the right

05:53

reason

05:54

with technology educators students and

05:58

parents

05:58

have a variety of learning tools at

06:00

their fingertips

06:02

here are some of the ways in which

06:03

technology improves education over time

06:06

number one teachers can collaborate to

06:09

share the ideas and resources online

06:11

they can communicate with others across

06:13

the world in an instant

06:14

make the shortcomings of their work

06:16

refine it and provide their students

06:18

with the best this approach

06:20

definitely enhances the practice of

06:22

teaching

06:24

number two students can develop a

06:26

valuable research

06:27

skills at a young age technology gives

06:30

students immediate access to an

06:32

abundance

06:33

of quality information which leads to

06:35

learning at much

06:36
quicker rates than before third

06:40

students and teachers have access to an

06:42

expansive material

06:43

there are plenty of resourceful credible

06:46

websites available on the internet

06:48

that both teachers and students can

06:49

utilize the internet

06:51

also provides a variety of knowledge and

06:53

doesn't limit students to one person's

06:55

opinion four online learning

06:59

is now an equally credible option

07:02

face to face interaction is huge

07:05

especially in the younger years

07:07

but some students work better when they

07:10

can go

07:11

at their own pace online education is

07:13

now accredited and has changed the way

07:15

we view education

07:17

next is the digital divide digital

07:20

divide is a term generally referred in

07:22

the education sector

07:24

to showcase inequalities in physical

07:27

access

07:27

to technology as well as the imbalances

07:30

in resources

07:31

and skills needed to effectively

07:33

participate as a digital

07:35

citizen also digital divide or the

07:39

digital split

07:40

is a term that refers to the gap between

07:42

demographics and regions that have

07:44
access to modern information and

07:46

communications technology

07:47

and those that don't or have received

07:50

access

07:51

these technologies are the smart phones

07:53

the televisions

07:54

the personal computers and the internet

07:57

despite

07:58

the developments made in technology the

08:00

students are still not getting

08:02

the benefits of it they are not

08:04

receiving the education that can help

08:06

them survive in today's tech world

08:08

other factors fueling this gap are

08:10

poverty and infrastructure

08:13

also the corruption and bureaucracy

08:17

as well as in the education and

08:18

technical support therefore

08:20

it's imperative for educators to be

08:23

aware of the potential barriers to

08:25

technology and internet access

08:26

that students may face

08:30

but of course we need to bridge this gap

08:32

and in order to bridge this gap there

08:34

must be a curriculum innovation that

08:36

enhances

08:37

the delivery of instruction to be

08:38

influenced by most schools

08:41

we the teachers in the college of

08:43

education were looking for alternatives

08:45

to meet the challenges in providing all

08:47
of you our students

08:48

with adequate knowledge and skills in

08:50

the use of educational technology

08:52

and the integration of ict in education

08:55

the rapid rights of technology

08:57

our over dependence on it and what it

08:59

could mean for the future of humanity

09:02

and that is the gen c and the alpha

09:04

generations

09:06

talking about the generation of

09:08

differences these are the generation of

09:10

learners

09:11

baby boomers baby boomers were thought

09:15

in a linear fashion

09:16

they read books not only that they read

09:19

books from covert to cover

09:22

they were taught by lecture prevalent

09:24

learning technologies included overhead

09:26

projectors

09:27

film scripts and some video does anyone

09:31

remember mimeograph handouts

09:34

how about that smell next is the gen x

09:38

gen x were taught in parts or modules

09:41

when they did research

09:42

they used the index and books to find

09:44

the information they needed

09:46

they didn't read books covered to cover

09:49

they learned an instructor

09:50

environment that included some lectures

09:52

and small group activities

09:55

millennials millennials were thought in

09:58
a more constructive environment

10:00

they did research in a network structure

10:03

when asked to investigate a topic they

10:05

would most likely turn to a computer

10:08

they wondered why anyone would consider

10:10

reading a book

10:11

they were the first entire generation of

10:14

digital natives

10:15

their learning environment accommodated

10:17

flexibility

10:19

now aside from these four generations we

10:21

have so-called

10:22

the gen c and the generation alpine

10:26

millennials were different and required

10:28

some modifications so higher end has

10:30

been adapting to their needs

10:32

millennials were the first generation to

10:34

come to campus

10:36

and they have laptops in hand and gen x

10:39

may have used

10:40

desktops in computer labs on campus and

10:43

this millennials

10:44

force educators to begin using

10:46

technology as a teaching tool

10:49

the gen z or the generation z were born

10:52

with technology

10:54

they will never know what life was like

10:55

without the internet

10:57

and this gen z students or learners

10:59

don't see technology as a tool

11:01

they see it as a regular part of life

11:05
while millennials use the three screens

11:07

on average

11:08

the gen c students are frequently used

11:11

out to find

11:12

most use a smartphone a television a

11:15

laptop

11:16

desktop and a tablet these devices

11:19

occupy 10 hours of genesis daily

11:21

activity

11:22

the constant stimulation and access to

11:25

all the world's information at their

11:26

fingertips has given them an 8 second

11:28

attention span

11:30

and a strain their brains to expect

11:31

instant gratification

11:33

sitting in a hole or classroom listening

11:35

to a lecture is a gen z

11:37

torture gen c students want a chance to

11:41

be part of the learning

11:42

process not a passive bystander on the

11:45

other hand

11:47

generation alpha is also called the i

11:49

generation

11:51

it is the most influential generation of

11:53

the 21st century

11:54

and here's why the generation outboard

11:58

children born from 2010 to 2025

12:02

they are the first generation entirely

12:04

born within the 21st century

12:06

they are also known as the i generation

12:10

they are the children of the millenniums

12:13
generation alpine uses smartphones and

12:16

tablets naturally

12:17

these children were born along with

12:19

iphones ipods and applications

12:22

they don't know or can imagine how life

12:24

was without them

12:26

they are not afraid of technology or

12:28

touching buttons to learn what those

12:30

buttons do

12:32

help us learn by doing

12:35

the right way to teach the young alphas

12:37

is by developing their critical thinking

12:39

skills

12:40

it will be important for generation

12:42

alpha children to be able to see the

12:44

problems from different perspectives

12:47

this is the generation that will call

12:49

live with advanced

12:50

artificial intelligence and this

12:52

generation help us need to be creative

12:55

but what are the challenges that

12:56

teachers are facing today

12:59

this is the use of technology

13:02

and the integration of educational

13:04

technology and instruction

13:07

as teachers or as a future teachers we

13:10

need to meet

13:11

the needs of these learners by equipping

13:14

themselves on how ict

13:15

can be integrated effectively in their

13:17

areas of specialization

13:20
but the questions are are we ready to

13:23

face the challenges

13:26

are we adaptive to change

13:29

are we willing to learn for the sake of

13:31

our future generations of learners

13:35

are we prepared to embrace the role of

13:37

this double profession

13:40

assess yourself the answer

13:43

must be yes

13:47

we need to be ready to face these

13:49

challenges and we need to be adopted to

13:52

change

13:52

we need also to learn for the sake of

13:56

our future generations

13:57

and of course we need to be prepared to

13:59

embrace the role of this profession

14:02

again class just keep calm and embrace

14:06

the technology again thank you for

14:09

watching i am dr kenneth samonte

14:12

and see you next time for another

14:14
