Kartilya NG Katipunan
Kartilya NG Katipunan
KATIPUNAN
Group 1
AAET 2-2
Our group was assigned with the topic: Kartilya ng Katipunan. This project seeks to find the
answers to the following questions:
• The value of these rules to the Katipunan and Katipuneros is to have one
goal to pursue the sake of their fellowmen. Despite being in that horrible
situation, this is a reminder not to harm anyone from their colleague so
that no one will harm them and their family and to live peacefully and
safely with other Katipuneros.
III. MAJOR CONTENTS AND ARGUMENTS
• The Kartilya is composed of 13 rules: the first seven rules focus on how to develop the
sense of being an honorable individual, upholding truth, and living with purpose. In
contrast, the rest of the rules of how we should treat others despite our differences.
Hence, the Kartilya ng Katipunan emphasizes virtuous living, generosity, perseverance,
the triumph of truth, and the preservation of dignity and honor. Additionally, it
expresses human equality despite skin color, education, and socioeconomic status as
well as the appreciation for women and children; the responsibility of men to their
families.
IV. CONTEXT OF TIME
• The primer was written on July 7, 1892, when the Philippines was under
the slavery of Spanish Colonization.
V. RELEVANCE OF SOURCE
• The source serves as a means for us students and historians to know the
ordinance of their lives and good morals that they should possess for
them to be able to properly do their duty, be upright individuals, and
treat others fairly. It helped us, students, to understand the katipunero’s
moral and intellectual principles which needed to be embodied in
order to join the organization. Additionally, it has provided readers with
a fresh viewpoint, enabling them to see how this text has played a
significant role in determining the current state of the nation.
VI. GUIDING POWER
• It provides guidance in contemporary issues such as poverty, avoiding
racism or social discrimination, proper parenting to prevent child
misbehavior, and teaching on how to treat women and even men so
they will never experience rape or sexual assault.
