Summary of Results

1. The most played online games by the pupils in San Sebastian Elementary School in terms

of Educational online game is Piano Tiles. Out of 200 participants 124 of them are

playing this educational game while the most popular online game in terms of Leisure is

the Roblox because out of 200 participants 173 of them are playing this leisure game.

And for the Gambling online games, Color game is the most played gambling game by

the 200 respondents of pupils in San Sebastian, because 106 of them are playing this

game.

2. The respondents are spending their time mostly 2 hours below with a percentage of 58.

3. The consequences of playing online games among pupils in San Sebastian Elementary

School in terms of academic, physical health, psychological health and social are shown

to be happen time to time. In terms of academic the positive consequence of playing

online games is the “Nadadagdagan ang kaalaman sa Matematika at Bokabularyo”

acquires the highest mean of 2.39 which described as “Madalas" The statement,

"Inaantok sa oras ng klase dahil napuyat sa paglalaro” is the negative consequence of

playing online games which acquires the highest mean of 1.67 which described as

“Minsan" in the said category. The "Nakatutulong upang makita kahit ang mga maliliit na

detalye sa mga bagay bagay” is the positive consequence of online gaming in terms of

their physical health which acquires the highest mean of 2.005 which described as

“Minsan” while the negative consequence of playing online in the physical health of the

respondent is the statement "Sumasakit ang kamay" acquires the highest mean of 2.045

which described as “Minsan". In terms of the psychological health of the pupils, the "

Nababawasan ang stress na nararamdaman dahil sa pag lalaro" was the positive

consequence who got the highest mean of 2.33 which describe as "Minsan" while the

negative consequence of online gaming is the " Mas nagiging irritable" got the Highest

mean which described as "minsan" with the mean score of 2.15. Lastly, the positive result

of playing online games among pupils in San Sebastian in terms of their social interaction

the statement " Nagiging palakaibigan dahil sa pakikisalamuha sa paglalaro" received the

highest mean score of 2.265 and is best described as "Minsan" and its negative
consequence to them is the " Hindi makausap ng pamilya o mga taong nasa paligid dahil

abala sa paglalaro" got the highest mean of 2.283 which described as “minsan”.

4. The attainment of the objectives of the study was made possible through the utilization of

the descriptive method of research. The sampling techniques were made through a

purposive sampling, where only those students who played on-line games were the only

respondents selected to meet the population size of the study. With a total of 126

respondents coming from PUP-LHS, all of them returned the survey questionnaire – the

main instrument of data gathering. Statistical treatment of data was done through the use

of percentage, weighted mean. In terms of their academic performance, students can

relate to the lesson based on the online games they played. However, when students play

games excessively, it may lead to addiction. This study proved that online gaming is

beneficial for students, but they must know how to manage their time wisely. Results are

five out of six factors have no relation with academic attainment

Consequences of Playing Online Games


The data presented in Table 1 showed pupils students about the consequences of playing

online games which is divided into 4 subs – components: academic, physical health,

psychological health, and Social.

Academic

Positive Consequences

As presented in table 1 it shows the academic positive consequences, the” Nadadagdagan

ang kaalaman sa Matematika at Bokabularyo” acquires the highest mean of 2.39 which described

as “Madalas" The statement “Nadadagdagan ang pagiging masining sa pag aaral” acquires the 2nd

highest mean of 2.26 which described as “Minsan” and the statement “Natututong magbasa at

magsulat” was the least factor which obtained a mean of 2.05 described as “Minsan”.

The result from table 1 shows that online games have “minsan” (sometimes) positive

consequence to the academic of San Sebastian Elementary School which gathered a total mean

of 2.33.

Negative Consequences

As presented in table 1 it shows the academic negative consequences, the "Inaantok sa

oras ng klase dahil napuyat sa paglalaro” acquires the highest mean of 2.10 which described as

“Minsan". The statement “Hindi nakakagawa ng takdang aralin dahil sa paglalaro” acquires the

2nd highest mean of 1.85 which described as “Minsan” and the statement “Mababa ang

nakukuhang marka sa quiz/exam dahil hindi nakapag-aral” was the least factor which obtained a

mean of 1.67 described as “minsan”.

The result from table 1 shows that online games “minsan” (sometimes) have negative

consequence to the academic of the pupils in San Sebastian Elementary School which gathered a

total mean of 1.8733.

Physical Health

Positive Consequences

As presented in table 1 it shows the positive consequences of physical health, the

"Nakatutulong upang makita kahit ang mga maliliit na detalye sa mga bagay bagay” acquires the

highest mean of 2.005 which described as “Minsan". The statement “Nakatutulong ang mga
nilalaro upang maging aktibo sa pag- eehersisyo” acquires the least factor of 1.985 which

described as “Minsan”.

The result from table 1 shows that online games have “Minsan” (sometimes) positive

consequence to the physical health of San Sebastian Elementary School pupils which gathered a

total mean of 1.995.

Negative Consequences

As presented in table 1 it shows the negative consequences of playing online games in the

physical health of the respondents, the "Sumasakit ang kamay" acquires the highest mean of

2.045 which described as “Minsan". The statement “Sumasakit ang mata/ulo dahil sa paglalaro”

acquires the 2nd highest mean of 1.945 which described as “Minsan”. The statement "Hindi naka

kain sa tamang oras/Nawawalan ng gana sa pagkain dahil tutok sa paglalaro" acquires the 3rd

highest mean of 1.53 which described as "Minsan". And the statement “Hindi na naka pag-aayos

ng sarili” was the least factor which obtained a mean of 1.47 described as “Hindi”.

The result from table 1 shows that online games have “Minsan” (sometimes) negative

consequence to the physical health of San Sebastian Elementary School which gathered a total

mean of 1.7475.

Psychological Health

Positive Consequences

As presented in the table of positive consequences of playing online games to the

Psychological health of the respondents, the " Nababawasan ang stress na nararamdaman dahil sa

pag lalaro" got the highest mean which is 2.33 describe as "Minsan", the "Nakatutulong sa pag

lawak ng imahinasyon" got the of 2.19 which is second to the highest mean and it is described

also as "Minsan", and the last one the " Nakatutulong sa pagiging madiskarti" got the lowest

mean which described as "Minsan" with the average score of 2.05.

The result from this table shows that online games have "Minsan" (Sometimes) positive

consequences to the Psychological Health of San Sebastian Elementary School with the total

mean of 2.19.

Negative Consequences
As presented in the table of Psychological Health negative consequences of online games

the " Nagagaya ang mga hindi magagandang asal dahil sa pag lalaro" got the second to the

highest mean which is 2.10 describe as "minsan", the " Nagiging bayolente dahil sa stress ng

pag lalaro" got the mean of 1.385 which is the lowest mean and it is described as "hindi", and the

last one the " Mas nagiging irritable" got the Highest mean which described as "minsan" with the

mean score of 2.15.

The result from this table shows that online games minsan (sometimes) have negative

consequences to the Psychological Health of San Sebastian Elementary School with the total

mean of 1.8783.

Social

Positive Consequences

As presented in the table of positive consequences of online games to the Social of the

pupils, the " Nagiging palakaibigan dahil sa pakikisalamuha sa paglalaro" got the highest mean

which is 2.265 describe as "Minsan", the "Maraming nakikilalang tao dahil sa paglalaro" got the

of 2.53 which is second to the highest mean and it is described also as "Minsan", and the last one

the " Nagkakaroon ng tiwala sa sarili" got the lowest mean which described as "Minsan" with the

average score of 2.245.

The result from this table shows that online games have "madalas" (always) positive

consequences to the Social of San Sebastian Elementary School with the total mean of 2.346.

Negative Consequences

As presented in the table of negative consequences of online games to the Social of the

participants, the " Hindi makausap ng pamilya o mga taong nasa paligid dahil abala sa paglalaro"

got the highest mean of 2.283 which described as “minsan” and " Hindi sanay sa pakikisalamuha

ng personal dahil nasanay sa online" got the second to the highest mean which is 1.42 describe

as "Hindi", and the last one the "Hindi na mautusan sa gawaing bahay" got the Highest mean

which described as "Hindi" with the average score of 1.5.

The result from this table shows that online games"Minsan" (sometimes) have Negative

consequences to the Social of San Sebastian Elementary School with the total mean of 1.7334.
