EIE ENTRY FOR THE MONTH OF MARCH

RALPH PATRICK E. MALATE

2nd Year
BSED - Social Studies

Learning is a lifelong process. We cannot learn everything that we should know

in just one sitting. In the teaching profession, attending a four - year bachelor's degree
in Education would not be enough for teachers to learn everything and become a
knowledgeable and effective teacher. However, what they have learned for those years
of training and studying will help them in the process of becoming one as they practice
their profession. Aside from that, not just as being a teacher, we must practice self -
directed learning as part of our continuous learning journey.

This month’s reading material recommends to us the use of the GAME Plan that
we can follow for our self-directed learning, especially in considering the right
technologies for teaching. GAME Plan stands for: Set Goals, Take Action to meet
those goals, Monitor progress toward achieving goals, Evaluate whether goals were
achieved and Extend your learning to new situations. For me, these four steps are not
just applicable for being a teacher specifically in learning about the technology -
enabled pedagogical strategies, but also in making our life way better, especially in
reaching our goals.

In this reading material, the latter part is about the monitoring and
evaluating professional growth through reflection. For me, this is my favorite
part of the reading material. In my words, reflecting is a way for you to monitor
your actions whether it should be continued or not, evaluate whether it may
contribute to your improvement, and consider other options for your
improvement. Since I reached highschool, It became part of mine to reflect on
my actions. Though some say that it will just make me overthink, I see it as a
way for me to improve myself especially that I will become a future educator
someday and will serve as a guide and role model to my future students.
Probably, I would not reach this far and maybe I would not become a better
version of myself if I did not do so.

Reflecting is a must in the teaching profession in a way it will help you

to become dynamic to the changes especially that students are diverse and
trends in teaching such as the use of technology are being integrated. Aside
from that, It is a way for you to cater better learning experiences to the
students which can help them to have better memory retention and to acquire
more learning. That is why, reflecting is essential not just in considering the
right technologies for effective teaching but for all the actions that we have
done and intend to do.
