TYPES OF INSULATORS:
1. Pin-type insulator - A pin insulator is a device that isolates a wire from
physical support such as a pin

2. Post insulator - Post insulators are used as support for

busbars in transformer sub-station yards, and in switchgear as
support for breakers, and capacitor banks.

3. Suspension Insulator - Suspension insulators support transmission lines

on steel towers, isolating the lines from the tower. They play a key role in
the safe supply of electricity.

4. Strain Insulator - A strain insulator is an electrical insulator

that is designed to work in mechanical tension (strain), to
withstand the pull of a suspended electrical wire or cable.

5. Shackle Insulator - Shackle insulators are one type of overhead

insulator used to provide insulation to conductors on low voltage power
lines.

6. Bushing Insulator - In electric power, a bushing is a

hollow electrical insulator that allows an electrical conductor
to pass safely through a conducting barrier such as the
case of a transformer or circuit breaker without making
electrical contact with it.

7. Stay Insulator - A Stay insulator is a form of low voltage insulator made

to counterweight and fastens the dead-end pole by combining stay wire
or guy grip

8. Disc Insulator - Disc insulators are used in high voltage

transmission and distribution lines which are designed for
fulfilling the required electromechanical strength.
