NEW CLASS GUIDELINE FOR

INSTALLATION OF CONTAINERISED
GENERATOR SETS
Relevant for owners, managers, design offices, shipyards, suppliers and flag states. November 2021

Whether you are a ship manager in need of temporary additional or replacement power, or
a supplier to the maritime industry renting out containerised generator sets, we recommend
you acquaint yourself with the content of the new Class Guideline to ensure a smooth instal-
lation of a containerised generator set.

case of damage to the emergency generator and the use of a

CGS as a temporary additional source of power, for example for
additional reefer cargo or seismic equipment.

By addressing the issue in a Class Guideline, we are making it

more convenient for managers and suppliers to have access
to the latest information. In addition, it will be easier for DNV
to update the document with any changes to requirements or
recommendations.

Recommendations
We recommend relevant parties read the new Class Guide-
line so that when the need for a temporary power supply
arises, you know what to look for or, alternatively, know what
to offer.
