ROUTE MAP - TASK #03

Before the lesson: In the first part, there is a grammar lesson so I have to find a way to start the
class and make it interesting. The lesson grammar is about “there is and there are”, also in the last
chart of section A we can see how it is used in a question and negative and affirmative answers.

In class / Lead in: I could start the class showing some places of houses and start an activity where
they just have to tell what things they see and how many. Also I can use pictures of manga and
comics that imitate bedrooms or living rooms, to make the class more modern I think. Lately I
teach them some vocabulary and ask them to write in a notebook those words because after that
we have to do an activity. Also, I teach them the grammar and how to ask and answer questions.

Set up the activity: I show them a picture on the tv or maybe I have to go with some images to the
class. I group them in pairs, and give the indications of the activity. They have to ask the partner if
they see an object in the picture, using the grammar that we learned before. Also the persons who
respond have to answer with the grammar.

Run the activity: I walk around the classroom and I pay attention to the words that they use, and
give some feedback if they need. After I notice that the majority finish and say that they have one
minute to finish the activity.

Close the activity: I ask some students to repeat the exercise in loud voice to all the class. And
that’s all.

Route Map for activity two:

Before the lesson: I read the activity and it says that the students have to do that in pairs, but I
think it is better if they work alone and then compare answers and take notes of the answers of
the other persons and I ask for some students to read them.
In class/Lead in: I make two examples of how to combine and develop the exercise.
Set up: I talk to them to start the activity and they have only 6 minutes. After that I group them
with different partners to compare answers and check them.
Run: I just walk around to be near to the person who can ask me something, to give them some
confidence to ask.
Close: I ask some students to talk out loud some answers that they have. And ask is there any
question? And after solving problems I just close the activity.
