Cold Storage TITRATION PROCESS FOR SURTEC 650

SOP FOR TITRATION PROCESS OF SURTEC 650

1. Clean all the apparatus before use with lab grade tissue paper.

2. Pipette 100 ml bath sample into a 250 ml Erlenmeyer flask.

3. Acidify with 3 ml sulfuric acid.

4. Add 3 g ammonium peroxodisufate.

5. Add 10 ml silver nitrate solution.

6. Cover the Erlenmeyer flask with a watch glass. Then heat up the solution and boil it
slightly for 20 min (the solution must not evaporate completely!).

7. Let it cool down to room temperature.

8. Add a spatula tip of potassium fluoride.

9. Add 15 ml potassium iodide solution.

10. Leave 5 min for reaction.

11. Titrate with 0.1 mol/l sodium thiosulfate solution until the solution becomes weakly yellow.

12. Add 5 ml starch solution (solution colour turns to blue-black).

13. Continue to titrate to the colour change to milky light green.

14. Calculation: consumption in ml · 1.613 = %vol SurTec 650

15. Fill the reading instantaneously in daily parameter sheet.

16. Add Surtec 650 according to calculation.

17. Clean all the apparatus after use with DM water.
