NARRATIVE REPORT

Webinar Title: Integrating ICT in the Curriculum and Instruction

Date: October 28, 2022
Resource Speaker: Joveliza A. Trongcoso

ICT is indeed a critical component of contemporary life, notably in the

educational system, now that we all have access to the internet and can support
students' needs for proficiency despite the looming threat of the pandemic. A teacher
should be and must become more technologically savvy in order to address the needs
of students and successfully carry out their role as a teacher in the new normal of open
and distance learning. The fifth webinar, on integrating ICT in the curriculum and
instruction, has this as its sole focus. This half-day webinar was launched via Lark
Video conferencing in the daytime. Thus, the webinar began with a prayer, followed by
the Philippine National Anthem and KCAST Hymn through an audio-visual presentation.
Subsequently, an opening remark was given by Ms. Manos from BSEd English class,
and the introduction of the resource speaker followed.
The resource speaker started off by introducing us to the two most widely used
virtual meeting and course platforms, Zoom and Google Meet, which seem to be
currently the foremost virtual platforms for educational purposes. In order to present us
more relevant data concerning prevalent office suite like Google Forms, Drive, and
Excel, which have been digital versions of Microsoft Office programs, she perhaps
displayed office applications and demonstrated basic excel shortcuts and formulas. She
furthermore underscored Canva, one of my go-to websites for creating PowerPoint
presentations.
The free video-editing program Filmora, of the kind that teachers could use whenever
they wish to edit some videos, was also covered.

Correspondingly, since virtual learning activities may be monotonous, teachers

might very well use them in virtual classes. Ms. Trongcoso acknowledged few more
websites, including Mentimeter, Quizizz, and Wheel of Names. These could make it
easier for teachers and even us, teacher interns, to capture the students' interest and
even get them engaged in the lesson as opposed to simply allowing them listen without
knowing whether they're really paying close attention or are just dozing off or playing
elsewhere.
Technology has really advanced teaching - learning process recently, therefore
we must move ahead with it. I could indeed speak for myself when I claim that I'm
extremely keen with anything technological. Kudos to this webinar, I was able to
integrate my leisure activity with something like a career opportunity in technology, for
which I am grateful. The process of teaching and learning shouldn't ever halt, and we
are able make the most of today's sophisticated technology to do so. Lastly, the webinar
concluded with impressions from each student from different specialization being
shared with the resource speaker, certificates being awarded, and a closing remark.
