Students will use creative thinking to create snowman and use phonetic spelling for difficult
words.
Lesson Objectives or Success Criteria (Word these as student actions, use verbs.)
Students will cut, glue, and color snowman to their liking and if they have time they will use
their phonetic spelling skills to sound out and write the winter words.

Lesson Plan Content (Written narrative paragraph about the lesson content.)
Students will cut, glue, and color a holiday snowman. If they have time, they will do a winter
words writing page where they will use their phonetic skills to sound out words and spell them.
They can discuss what they enjoyed about the lesson and what they didn’t, as well as
collaborate during the lesson with their classmates.
Instructional Procedures
Focusing Event (Describe how you will get students to focus attention on your teaching.)
I will keep my students focused by interacting with them and engaging them in the
activity. If I need to remind them to stay focused, I will do that.
Instructional Strategies (Describe all instructional methods you will employ during the lesson.)
I will be using direct instruction as I guide them through each step of the activity, and
Indirect instruction while they work to sound out their winter words.
Student Participation (How will you engage students and get them on board to participate?)
The students will participate by copying each step and describing to me and their
classmates what they are adding to their snowman.
Formative Check (How will you check that all students are involved and engaged in the lesson?
I will make sure each student is working and being safe during the use of scissors, and
being included in discussion.
Closure (How will you end the lesson purposefully, with intentionality?)
I will have a discussion with the students about the lesson and review what
they found difficult or what they enjoyed.
Assessment (How will you assess that students achieved the lesson goals or learning targets?)
I will review their work and asses that they were on task and showing progress
in their writing/handwriting.
Lesson Plan Materials (Include everything needed to successfully complete the lesson with
the full class. Remember to include all supplies, as well as technology, whiteboard space,
classroom space, etc.)
28 paper copies of two different work sheets, Pencils, Crayons, Scissors, Glue sticks, table
space during stations.
