words.

Lesson Objectives or Success Criteria (Word these as student actions, use verbs.)

Students will cut, glue, and color snowman to their liking and if they have time they will use
their phonetic spelling skills to sound out and write the winter words.

CSTP Rationale (Describe the ways your lesson aligns with California Standards for the Teaching
Profession.)

CSTP 1 Engaging and Supporting All Students in Learning

I will monitor each student and help them based on their needs.
CSTP 2 Creating and Maintaining Effective Environments for Student Learning
I will allow students to collaborate and share their snowmen while also maintaining their
routine.
CSTP 3 Understanding and Organizing Subject Matter for Student Learning
I will provide instruction in Spanish as well and make my lesson as accessible as possible for
the students.
CSTP 4 Planning Instruction and Designing Learning Experiences for All Students
I will be willing to adapt my lesson to my student’s needs, and not use specific holiday
lessons.
CSTP 5 Assessing Students for Learning
I will review the students writing and correct them to help them review.
CSTP 6 Developing as a Professional Educator
I will discuss with my mentor what went right and what went wrong, as well as see where I can
improve as an intern to best support my students.

Lesson Plan Content (Written narrative paragraph about the lesson content.)

Students will cut, glue, and color a holiday snowman. If they have time, they will do a winter
words writing page where they will use their phonetic skills to sound out words and spell them.
They can discuss what they enjoyed about the lesson and what they didn’t, as well as
collaborate during the lesson with their classmates.

Instructional Procedures

 Focusing Event (Describe how you will get students to focus attention on your teaching.)

I will keep my students focused by interacting with them and engaging them in the
activity. If I need to remind them to stay focused, I will do that.

 Instructional Strategies (Describe all instructional methods you will employ during the lesson.)

I will be using direct instruction as I guide them through each step of the activity, and
Indirect instruction while they work to sound out their winter words.

 Student Participation (How will you engage students and get them on board to participate?)

The students will participate by copying each step and describing to me and their
classmates what they are adding to their snowman.

 Formative Check (How will you check that all students are involved and engaged in the lesson?

I will make sure each student is working and being safe during the use of scissors, and
being included in discussion.

 Closure (How will you end the lesson purposefully, with intentionality?)
I will have a discussion with the students about the lesson and review what
they found difficult or what they enjoyed.

 Assessment (How will you assess that students achieved the lesson goals or learning targets?)

I will review their work and asses that they were on task and showing progress
in their writing/handwriting.
