Experiences in Teaching: Araling Panlipunan as a Difficult Subject

Introduction
We've been studying Araling Panlipunan as academic material ever since we were in elementary school. Some of us are
unaware of the true significance of this topic. While some people find it challenging and tedious, others find it fascinating.
Because of Araling Panlipunan, students have a greater comprehension of the world. In a variety of contexts, they also build
their own understanding of social issues and create their own opinions about them. The difficulty of teaching Araling
Panlipunan, however, affects how well students are able to comprehend the material. The purpose of this study, then, is to
demonstrate the difficulties and strategies for instructing pupils in Araling Panlipunan.

As of that, we interview a AP teacher Sir Kim, During the inertview with sir Kim we ask him a lot about the challenges he
faced when he is teaching the students about Araling Panlipunan not only the challenges but also his experiences. As we
interview a super nice teacher, he also shares some advice for us to motivate, sir kim said “Keep your face always toward
the sunshine, and shadows will fall behind you”.

Body
Sir Kim admitted that Araling Panlipunan or Social studies can occasionally be a little dull. especially if you don't
have a true interest in the subject that covers topics like history, society, and several scientific fields because it emphasizes
memorizing the names of the people and events in the history and also the dates when the event has happened. He
handles those difficulties by demonstrating to his students how much he delights in his work. According to him, the instructor
must be passionate about the subject in order for the pupils to be engaged. If your students find the Araling Panlipunan
subject to be uninteresting, he said that you shouldn't correct them. Instead, when you instruct your students in AP,
encourage their love of the subject by demonstrating your own enthusiasm and excitement in it.

He also said that AP teachers should be in the best position to determine when the learning tasks are just right—that is,
when they are neither too easy nor too difficult—because they should know their students better than anyone. Earning
assignments shouldn't be too simple to bore pupils or too challenging to demotivate them. It is envisaged that the teaching
of social studies will contribute to the development of a global citizenry that is aware of current social issues on a local and
global level. guiding principles Meaningful, integrative, value-based, challenging, and engaged social studies instruction is
effective. Additionally, it acquires significance when students are forced to use focused inquiry or higher-level reasoning
skills to create meaning.

When students recognize the lesson's relevance to their lives and how it applies in the real world, learning is meaningful
and authentic. A potent and effective AP instruction is value-driven since the growth of the mamayang mapanagutang,
makalikasan, makabansa, and makatao are its intended consequences. Students listen to contrasting arguments, assess
the merits of competing arguments, and make educated decisions based on their values in lessons that are replete with
issues and concerns that have a strong moral component.

Conclusion/Recommendation/s
To sum it up, the flow of our interview with him was so good, the way he speaks genuinely and also the way he motivates us
even though he was struggling too. We can see that Sir kim was a nice teacher because he can handle his students, he loves his
passion harder for himself and for his students who are bored and not listening to him before because of that his students sees that
Araling Panlipunan was not boring when love and enjoy to learn it. They realize that it is so important for us to understand this subject
because they can develop their understanding of the world. They can also learn about other people and their values in different times,
places and conditions. And also, they will develop the perspective of their environment and the process of its advancement.
Sir Kim struggles a lot, but didn’t give up. He also experienced a lot of difficulties but he never gets tired of trying and fighting. That’s he
inspires and motivates some of his students because of his hardworking. He just left us this for us to not give up even when time is not
for us, don’t give up on the things you’ve started already, and don’t give up on our dreams. “You can’t go back and change the
beginning but you can start where you are and change the ending” from sir Kim.
